Mixtape: Those Myrtle Beach Days

Mai 21 2008, 14h28

So, what you likely don't know about me is that although I spent the first 27 years of my life as a Midwesterner, the last seven have proven to me (without a shadow of a doubt) that I was really a Carolina girl from the beginning.

Around here, there are "shag" clubs and thousands of people from five to 60 who love to dance to that good old "beach music," and who remember fondly summers spent at Myrtle Beach and the old Pavilion.

These are the songs we all dance to and know word for word. These are our summers spent burning our feet in the sand and running into the surf.

The Embers - I Love Beach Music
The Drifters - Under the Boardwalk
The Catalinas - Summertime's Calling Me
The Rascals - Groovin'
The Showmen - 39-21-40 Shape
The Tams - There Ain't Nothin' Like Shaggin'
The Drifters - Up On the Roof
The Temptations - My Girl
The Drifters - I've Got Sand in My Shoes
Globetrotters - Rainy Day Bells
The Tymes - Miss Grace
Tommy James & The Shondells - Crystal Blue Persuasion
Smokey Robinson - Cruisin'
Band of Oz - Ocean Boulevard
The Radiants - Ain't No Big Thing
Jerry Butler - I Dig You Baby
The Drifters - You're More Than a Number in My Little Red Book
Chairmen Of The Board - Carolina Girls
Tommy James & The Shondells - Crimson and Clover
The Temptations - Just My Imagination

Every summer I make a mixtape to take with me on holiday and to listen to in the car. This one really inspired me :D
