I actually agree with you about the original 'I'm New Here' but the rework, musically, was exceptional, and it distilled the original down to all of it's strongest points and cut away all of that flab that you referred to yourself. I still have to hear Atlas Sound, also Girls (liked their last album very much) and Oneohtrix Point Never - I found his previous stuff pretty dull to be honest but there's a lot of hype around Replica so I'll give it a shot. What did you make of Bon Iver's album? I thought it was the most overrated album of the year. I actually do like it, but it isn't near as incredible as it's being touted to be.

I don't think it was the *best* year for music to be honest (especially compared to last year), but like last year electronic music has excited me the most - I'm pretty sure you'd hate a lot of what I loved... albums by Zomby, Machinedrum, The Weeknd, Art Department, Nicolas Jaar, and singles/eps by Sepalcure, Joy Orbison and Julio Bashmore. In guitar-type music I loved Kurt Vile and PJ's albums... oh yeah, M83s album was pretty spectacular and I loved Jamie xx's rework of Gil-Scott Heron. There's plenty I still haven't listened to as always and some of the music I enjoyed a lot wasn't really groundbreaking enough to make my top-ten list... Junior Boys and SBTRKT come to mind. I was also pretty taken with James Blake earlier in the year but he's suffering from backlash at the moment.

No wait... you did do one last year, didn't you? It must have been the year before where you got Dermot to fill in for you with the hip-hop list. I've lost track of time...

So, you gonna make up for last year and do a year end list?

Kinda. It's a really short so it just plays through without too much notice. There's some great moments on it, but for the best part, it's just okay. Finding it a little endearing anyway, the type of stuff I really wanted to make when I was 15 or so but never could. Did you give it a go?

Deadly. Think I might give that a listen now actually. Just watched Jeff Mangum cover True Love Will Find You In The End from a show a while ago. Don't know what to make of it. Worth a watch I guess.

Yep. Serious contender for album of the year for me. Think you might enjoy it. I can't seem to liken it to anything though, which is good I guess. Very dark. Don't let the intro scare you off.

It doesn't work as an album, and I think Nostalgia ULTRA really does. Though I would say try Novacane and Songs About Women before you give the album a go. There's some seriously bizarre backing tracks that might throw you off if you're not sold on him already. Haha, have you ever heard Pop, Bye Bye Bye, Tearing Up My Heart or It's Gonna Be Me by N Sync? If that isn't perfect modern pop music then I don't know what is. The chorus in each on of them. GOT DAYUM

Hey, it beats Sugar when it comes to pop music. If you can call it that. ;D By the way, the Frank Ocean you've listened to there is the really bad stuff when he wasn't 'Frank Ocean'. From what I've read they're collected from when he was credited as Lonny Breaux and making totally different music, or I see it as different anyway. It's not good. What you want is Nostalgia, ULTRA. Try this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0VhciYFKdk8 Another contender for song of the year with me and probably the best on the album. Lyrically it's pretty flawless. I think anyway.
