I'd give her Unbroken album a chance. It's very not American Idol. She has songs written by Paula Cole and Rachel Yata....I can't remember how to spell her name right now.

SO addictive and fascinating! I've found so many unexpected delights! I really wish I could take Last.fm with me in the car, and with me when I'm waving this tax season. <3 I still can't believe my #1 artist at present is MC Yogi, rofl.

I like them -- reminds me of Little Boots, I bit. And Sally Shapiro, although she sounds more dreamy.

Like a Prayer is one of my favorites, right next to Ray of Light--although, True Blue has been getting a lot of play lately.

i hate to say it, but i like their cover of "i will survive" even more than the original. anyhow, if you'd like me to hook you up with some lisa or a sampling of jill's stuff, let me know. (that sounds remarkably like, "want some candy, little girl?")

i *heart* cake! yay cake! anyhow, the reason i logged in here today was to ask if you've gotten lisa hannigan's album yet? it's really great. i first heard it on the colbert report, where she and her band performed "i don't know," which seems to also be the first single, given that it's the most listened to song on the album on here. on my album-buying trip this weekend, i also got jill sobule's new one--i can't remember if you like her? i looked for rachael sage's new one, but they didn't have it.

yeah, i only noticed because when i logged in to answer a couple of friend requests, i noticed that one of the first songs on my playlist had been removed from last.fm (presumably by the singer), so i went in to remove it from my playlist, & realized the change. anyhow, i LOVE yerba buena! i'm always getting "fever" stuck in my head, & some of their other songs are so funny, like "el burrito." :)

kate bush and nick drake--excellent. i guess all i do any more is complain when i get on here (that's why i don't log in much any more!), but--i can't believe they limited the playlist to 200 songs and didn't grandfather in people who had created them beforehand. i just spent ages tinkering with my playlist to try to make it fit within the new(ish) standard, but they don't even show the songs past 200 until you delete some, so i can't even know if i'd rather delete the songs past 200 until i've deleted some of the ones i can see! sigh. i wish cbs had just left last.fm alone when they bought it. BTW, this is so irrelevant, but do you already know yerba buena? if not, i think you'd like them. they're great music to listen to when you're in a peppy mood or doing something where you want a nice beat (like organizing, at least for me, oddly enough).

Leave Me Alone is so classic--I remember the video and thought it was so smart, like a parody of all the tabloids. And Smooth Criminal, I can't talk about it. I thought it was magic when he would do that lean. MAGIC.

Oh GOD, this is a hard one. I'm going to go for 90s Michael: Black and White or Remember the Time. I remember singing those on the school bus on trips!

Happy to be here. Love how it says our musical compatibility is Low. LOL. But then I haven't been here that long either. I love all kinds of music. *looks at your list* Oooh Supreme Beings of Leisure, Yo-Yo Ma, Patty Griffin....I like them, too.

LikeKnives from LJ introduced me to City and Colour more or less a year ago. Dallas Green's lyrics and voice are really compelling/beautiful. I find him hard to listen to sometimes, because he brings up lots of emotions for me. <3
