Coheed at the Bluebird.

Tue 8 May – Coheed and Cambria, Moving Mountains, Pianos Become The Teeth

I have to say most of the issues I had with tonight's show came from the venue chosen for the show. I had never been to a show at The Bluebird before and I will most likely second guess going to anything there in the future. Viewing the bands shouldn't be that much of an issue.

Pianos Become the Teeth opened the show with a nice 30 minute set. This was the first I had heard of either of the two opening acts, and while PBTT aren't really my cup of tea, I have to say that their drummer is my favorite part of the group... so much energy!

Moving Mountains followed with their own 30 minute set and easily had the best mixing of the evening. I could easily distinguish the various instruments and could actually understand the lyrics. Was impressed, and plan on checking them out.

Then of course, Coheed and Cambria followed with a really nice setlist full of deep-cuts from all of their albums. The crowd was really into it and sang along to every song (except for one of the deep-cuts off of YotBR), which was awesome and made up for how hard it was to hear Claudio over everything else. Was a little bummed they didn't play The Running Free or Guns of Summer, as they are personal favorites, but you can't please everyone right?

Overall I thought the show was great... but I just wish they had picked a better venue than The Bluebird. It didn't really feel like that place was made for popular bands like that.
