Well a year has passed and Last.fm has gained many more members, so I thought I would redo this meme to see if it changed significantly or not. One thing I noticed was that my top 25 hasn't changed significantly save for a different order, but basically all of the artists I had on here last time have all gone up quite a bit in listeners (my total listeners number nearly TRIPLED from last year!).

    Here we go:

Take your top 25 artists, and find out how many listeners they have.

    1. Kalan Porter - 6,868
    2. Starfield - 38,227
    3. House of Heroes - 18,204
    4. Family Force 5 - 56,065
    5. Relient K - 320,672
    6. Anberlin - 329,838
    7. Falling Up - 59,971
    8. Mute Math - 150,036
    9. Jars of Clay - 120,365
    10. Switchfoot - 418,548
    11. Plain White T's - 587,908
    12. Sam Roberts - 64,064
    13. KT Tunstall - 692,855
    14. Paramore - 612,932
    15. Snow Patrol - 1,342,881
    16. Fall Out Boy - 1,046,896
    17. Keane - 1,106,175
    18. Coldplay - 2,284,249
    19. Delirious? - 80,431
    20. Jon Foreman - 54,576
    21. Hedley - 36,622
    22. Jonezetta - 40,165
    23. Thousand Foot Krutch - 113,829
    24. Bethany Dillon - 29,292
    25. Sanctus Real - 52,992

    Total Listeners: 9,664,661
    Divide by 25: 386586.44
Divide by the number of Radiohead listeners: 0.18291931678705570954459725583011
    Multiply by 100: 18.29%

Also, since this meme was written when Radiohead was the top band on the site, but now they are second to Coldplay, I thought I'd also calculate to Coldplay's listeners:

    Total Listeners: 9,664,661
    Divide by 25: 386586.44
Divide by the number of Coldplay listeners: 0.16924006095657697562743816457838
    Multiply by 100: 16.92%

So with the original Radiohead equation, I've gone up 1.3% from last year. With Coldplay as the new "most mainstream on Last.fm" band, I've gone down 0.98%

    Fun fun!
  • Albums of 2008

    Jan 25 2009, 1h09

New Albums I bought in 2008 (Alphabetically):

The Almost - No Gift To Bring
    Anberlin - New Surrender
Capital Lights - This Is An Outrage!
Copeland - You Are My Sunshine
Family Force 5 - Dance or Die
    Fireflight - Unbreakable
House of Heroes - The End is Not The End
Jon Foreman - Winter, Spring, and Summer EPs
Jonezetta - Cruel to be Young
    Keane - Perfect Symmetry
Luke Doucet - Blood's Too Rich
Paramore - The Final Riot Live! CD/DVD
Plain White T's - Big Bad World
Remedy Drive - Daylight Is Coming
    Ruth - Anorak
Sam Roberts Band - Love at the End of the World
Snow Patrol - Take Back The City

    Best of the lot:
House of Heroes - The End is Not the End
Can't get enough of this album. It's been awhile since I had an album I could get almost every song stuck in my head with... and still be quality songs. So catchy, so good. I love everything about House of Heroes, the songwriting, the vocals... I was a big fan of their previous album Say No More, but The End is Not the End totally blew it out of the water.

    Biggest Disappointment:
    Keane - Perfect Symmetry
Where did Keane go? Not to say it's a terrible album, it's pretty decent, but I'm extremely disappointed in Keane no longer sounding like the Keane that hooked me. I know artists like to change and evolve, but when I enjoy a band for one sound, it's frustrating when they change it...

    Biggest WTF:
Family Force 5 - Dance or Die
Speaking of sound changes... then we have Dance or Die. Wow. I love most of the album, but I didn't think I could be shocked by the sound of Family Force 5 any further (I still consider Business Up Front, Party In The Back to be the most schizophrenic album I own), but then they go and pull this album out of their hat! It took some seriously getting used to, but for the most part I certainly enjoy it. However, I could really do without the cheese-tastic ventures into Boyband Ballad Land in Share it With Me and How In The World. Still prefer Business...., but Dance or Die still has earned it's place in my heart... even if it took quite some time to let it sink in. ;)

    Final Note:
Did I hate any of these albums? Absolutely not! Was I surprised by many of them? Definitely.
