The Misfits, The Jolts, Haddonfield

Last Wednesday night I went down to Element, which is a local night club here in Victoria, to see The Misfits , The Jolts , and Haddonfield play. I'm a huge fan of Danzig era Misfits, and not so much the new "Jerry Only Experience" Misfits and my friend aptly named them, but I was looking forward to this show regardless.
First on were Haddonfield who are a local Victoria, BC phsycobilly band, and were a good fit as an opener for the Misfits. They all painted their faces to look like Zombies in the spirit of things, and all in all put on a good show. I couldn't tell you anything about any particular songs of their own that they played, but they did play extremely fast covers of Sweet Dreams and i shot the sherriff . I've seen them play a couple of times around town, and they always put on a good show.
The Jolts, a punk band from Vancouver, BC were on next. From beginning to end they played with Ramones-esq intensity. I had never heard them or of them before this show and I have to say that they definately made a good impression. Highlights of their set were the songs
Drop Dead Girl and
DXM. Also, near the end of their set they pulled out a good cover of Commando by the Ramones. Even though I love the Misfits, in my opinion The Jolts were the best band of the evening.
Misfits came on the stage after about a half hour wait, and as to be expected, they were extremely loud. They pulled out lots of Danzig era songs such as Attitude, Skulls,
Die, Die My Darling, We Are 138... etc. Also they played a few newer Jerry Only Misfits songs such as On a Saturday Night...ect. The Guitarist and the Drummer are also former members of Black Flag and they played a few Black Flag songs such as
Rise Above which was cool. Anyway, Jerry put on a great show for a 50 year old man, I hope that I'm rocking half that hard when I'm his age. Overall, seeing the Misfits was a great experience. Was good to see all of those songs played live even if Danzig wasn't there.
At the end of the night I was drunk and my ears were ringing, Jerry Only came off the stage to meet the fans and I took off home to get at least 4 hours of sleep before work in the morning. Good show.
