  • BEST CONCERT OF MY LIFE

    Fev 18 2009, 6h32

Tue 17 Feb – Ben Folds, Miniature Tigers

Though it's the first concert in my life. Okay, so let's start with the basics.

The Miniature Tigers opened, then Wibi did an acapella cover of TocarUnderground, which was decent, followed by an unknown song, then an acapella cover of Don't Stop Believin, with a vocal guitar solo. Good opener, in my opinion.

After about a half hour (with a show starting supposedly at 7pm, they hit the stage at 9:30pm...), the three came onto the stage and immediately began playing Bitch Went Nutz. Here's the entire setlist:

    Bitch Went Nutz
    TocarEffington
    TocarBrainwascht
You Don't Know Me (with Jared doing Regina Spektor's part. Remarkable vocal capabilities on this man!)
TocarAnnie Waits (thank god! old songs!)
TocarAlice Childress (half the crowd didn't know this)
TocarArmy (albeit a fake, improv version. I have a vid)
    Way to Normal
    TocarCologne
    TocarZak and Sara
    TocarLanded
    Lovesick Diagnostician
    TocarDr. Yang
    Hiroshima
    TocarFred Jones, Part 2
    TocarLullabye (only piano)
    TocarEmaline
    TocarKylie from Connecticut
TocarFree Coffee (With altoid tins! And an effects pedal! And it didn't suck!)
    TocarTom and Mary
TocarDon't Stop Believin' (improv; lots of cavity searches)
TocarArmy (the crowd automatically knew the horn part, and I screamed "GOD PLEASE SPARE ME MORE REJECTION" as one of the few people. It was amazing.)
    TocarKate
TocarNot the Same (I had to do the falsetto part of the chorus since nobody else in the crowd seemed to)

Encore (of course; though it took 10 minutes of applause)
TocarFair (I WAS WAITING FOR THIS, YES)
TocarPhilosophy (though the ending was Dr. Pyser)

Then they exited once more, and for good this time, and the crowd kept cheering. We exited a while after and got Nick's Miniature Tigers CD signed (I fist-pounded the lead singer! Yay!).

    Now it's 1am and I'm really tired.

Cake - TocarOpera Singer! The drum beat is so blah yet the bass is so awesome.

    26. What is the first song you ever heard by 26?

    27. What is your favorite album by 3?

John Linnell - Technically, TocarIllinois since I did a full album playthrough.

    30. What is you favorite song by 8?

    38. What is you favorite song by 36?
The Lady Sails - Hmm...TocarJude the Obscurer. Randomly, on the acoustic guitar-driven album, is this piano-heavy piece. There's something about the combination of piano and percussion that makes it very pleasant to the ear, and it's a very calm track. It's free, too, so give it a listen.

  • Christmas Vacation: Day 1

    Dez 23 2006, 22h03

Well, it’s Saturday, 11am. I’m bored as ever. And it’s the first day of vacation. >_> I wonder if Jake can come over…

Anyway, my mom and dad are gone. My mom will leave later to go Christmas shopping. Again. I wonder why she’s going so last minute. That’s all for now, I might add more later if something happens.

EDIT(1:37pm): I just realised that today’s Festivus! Happy Festivus, everyone!

My mom and dad are back. Apparently the Harders are having an open house next Friday. Oh joy. It really bugs me about how they hold so many parties yet aren’t too keen to go to other people’s houses. Do they hate our house? Do they hate us? Are we just their pawn, their piece to the social mansion they’d like to keep standing?

Anyway, I still have no plans. I’m booooorrreeeddd.

EDIT(4:59pm): darksarcasm01 helped me with my sax a bit. Some useful stuff came out of it. He taught me Taps, which I’ll play sometime tomorrow, I don’t know if I should. :P Anyway, I’ve been looking for some new songs to listen to. So far, I’ve listened to Barenaked Ladies, Eminem, and Run DMC. And that was the last 3 hours.
