It was Stephen Davies, but I think it's based on something of Leibnitz. One of my lecturer's is pretty young, but he seems to do alot more work based on other philosopher's than his own stuff, but I can imagine he'd do well in years to come. And one of our professors, Glen Newey, is brilliant, so I can imagine him making a proper name for himself. Not sure if I ever will - I can't imagine doing philosophy beyond undergrad level, but I'd love to be able to. I've started on my final essay now, so should be done with it by the weekend.

It's based on the ontological and cosmological argument. But it's made up of 18 premises, and as it goes through them, it relates the later ones to earlier ones as evidence, and comes to the solid conclusion that a necessary being must exist. The only premise I had a problem with was the one that said something like 'time is infinite rather than finite'. It seemed to be based on a presupposition, but he sort-of explains why he says it. But the argument doesn't hinge on that premise, so it's not like it can really be brought into question based on that one alone. I found out Richard Swindburn used to teach here before becoming professor of philosophy at Cambridge. We seem to have had some good people in years passed - fuck knows where they've all gone. Haha.

He's good. I'd always heard songs of his before, but listening to that album, I realise how good he is. He's like Tom Waits with his lyrical content, though not musically. New Coheed album in April. A bit of a sudden announcement. They usually announce it a year or so before the date. I finished my Woolf essay, and it's come out really good, I think. Just on the concept of sufficient reason in relation to contingent and necessary beings now. I actually found a logical argument for the existence of God - which, to a logician, is a solid argument. Rather than inferring God, though, he calls it a necessary being. I'll have to send it to you.

Yeah - I got the Devin Townsend message. I didn't like the album, though. I didn't know an Alcest split was due. I thought it was just the album. I'll have to get that.

The John Peel Sessions album is really good as well. As ever, I don't usually like live albums, but they do it brilliantly.

I'd heard of This Mortal Coil before, but had never heard anything. I shall have a look for them.

I thought you had more This Heat stuff. Get Deceit, young man. I'll have to get that Sonic Youth album.

I've still never listened to Sonic Youth. I thought they were meant to be a bit more shoegaze, though in a drug-addled way. Haha. A band last night did a Spiritualized cover. It was fucking impressive. I didn't know the song, though. I've still only got two of their albums, but I'll have to have a look for the others.

Nah - just because of going out last night, and then only being up for a bit before going out this morning, for the day. Though, looking a tthe time, it said I was listening to them til about 9.15 last night, but I was in the pub by about 9, so I don't know how that works out. Yep - should do good on this essay, I reckon. Listening ot This Heat? Good'un. Deceit is my favourite album of theirs. 'Sleep' and 'Paper Hats' are brilliant songs.
