I think I'm going to do this every six months, just to see how my iTunes is evolving over the years. I'm a little early I think, six months from the last one would be next week or the week after? But oh well. Close enough. If I don't do it now I'll probably forget. :P

So I got a Mac in January, and I just recently started filling in my music collection on it. I've barely been listening to music, except in my car. Well, that's changed! I've been listening to music almost constantly in the last month, and it's definitely different music than I used to love, which gave me an idea...

I think what I'm going to do for now on is every December 31, I'm going to create a journal entry with my overall top artists, tracks, and albums for the year - and then clear my data. The clearing part makes me nervous, but a) I'll have a text record and b) let's face it, my musical taste is not well reflected on here anymore.

I'm currently in the process of falling in love with the Arctic Monkeys. I haven't heard many of their songs yet, but I definitely love Fake Tales of San Francisco and I Bet You Look Good On The Dance Floor. What can I say? I like their sound.

Teen Vogue, while not my favorite magazine at all, has a feature this month with 26 recommended songs from A-Z. I haven't heard of most of them, so I'm hoping I'll discover a few new favorites.

I haven't been able to play music on my computer for the past month because of a bit of nasty spyware that made my computer run incredibly slow. By slow I mean that I would have Firefox and Trillian running and be at full capacity. But, I got it up and running, and now I'm back. Hopefully my charts will become more accurate now that I'm able to listen more. Will Smith's Switch definitely isn't at the top of my "must-hear" tunes and yet it's one of my top played tracks here. Meh. I'm assuming that the more I listen, the more accurate it will be. And if not, I can always make a playlist that excludes the songs I want off my charts and listen to it on repeat. ;] Just kidding, that's cheating and of course I don't cheat - especially when it comes to something as important as my last.fm charts.

In music related news, I've become big fans of Corrine Bailey Ray and KT Tunstall, thanks to VH1's late-night music videos. Also, I've rediscovered Death Cab for Cutie. I listened to them non-stop for about two weeks, then stopped. I have no idea why, but I'm back to listening to them, especially late at night when I'm trying to sleep. It's perfect Let Your Mind Wander music.

So far I'm really enjoying this. I plan to add a chart to my online portfolio as soon as I get it up and running, and I might add it to my deviantART site too. Call me a nerd and slap me silly but I like having a record of what I'm listening to. The fact that others can see it too is a neat bonus.
