Sobre mim
Ciro Pessoa was a member of Titãs (a major pop act in Brazil) for the two initial years, when they used to play venues as eclectic as their own music. Upon leaving the group, Ciro left compositions that are, still today, smash hits of the band: “Sonífera Ilha” (1982), “Toda Cor” (1982), “Homem Primata” (1983) e “Babi Índio” (1983).
The Ex-Titã become then the bandleader of Cabine C, a band that made only one, yet unforgettable record called “Fósforos de Oxford”, with 11 tracks, released by RPM label in 1986. That was destined to become a lasting success, with songs that are covered live and recorded by many of today’s most promising underground Brazilian bands.
In 2002 was released the album “Eu e Meu Guarda-chuva” with 11 songs for children, written with Branco Mello, singer of Titãs, back in 1985. In an album with a stellar cast, the songs were recorded by some of MPB´s greatest singers, as Elza Soares, Cássia Eller, Roberto Frejat, Tony Garrido and Marcelo D2, among others. The project has later been developed and released as a Children’s´ Book, a Play and finally make its way to become a feature motion picture, scheduled to hit the cinemas by the summer of 2010.
Ciro released his first solo album in 2003: “No Meio da Chuva Eu Grito Help”, with 11 tracks produced by Apollo 9 and released by British label Voice Print. In this album we can hear his rocker style elegantly morphing with different and diverse rhythms. The track “Até os anos 70” pays homage to French poet Serge Gainsbourg.
Ciro is now releasing his second solo effort, “Em Dia com a Rebeldia”, once more produced by Apollo 9. Of the 12 new tracks, some are partnerships of Ciro with producer Apollo 9 and others were written by Ciro alone. The music on the album is somewhat in-between psychedelic and surrealistic. “Should be listened to as if it were a dream” – Ciro says of his new album.
“Em dia com a Rebeldia” will be released late January, 2010 by Rebel! Rebel! Label.
