I've been lucky to be in the rehearsal room when two of the songs were born, so guess I'm a little biased here but I love the new songs. I really like the direction the new album takes w/ its "simpler" songs and rawer sound. Still 100% PoS though.

i really think this year has been one of the best for a long time in terms of great releases: amorphis, artillery, beardfish, candlemass, centaurus-a, devin townsend project (x2), dolores o'riordan, dredg, f.k.ü., long distance calling, manimal, pure reason revolution, riverside, seventh wonder, spheric universe experience, pain of salvation, living colour, transatlantic, laleh, ...and you will know us by the trail of dead, freak kitchen, rammstein, gogol bordello, pendragon - i cannot believe you didn't like any of these. ;)

Not bad, sort of like ITCGD but heavier. I can't see much differentiation between the songs at the moment but that's always the way with Katatonia albums. Some of it is very, very Opethy. In a way I wish they'd gone lighter rather than heavier. No stupid lyrics either unlike on, well, every album between Brave Murder Day and ITGCD.
Sobre mim
Some of the charts appear to reflect my currents tastes quite well, but confusingly seem to be based upon my playcount before it was comprehensively fucked over. I am just soooooooooooooooo pissed off to have lost that last 10,000 plays and then to have had 25,000 added out of the blue. While my profile does refelect my current taste, the numbers are all over the place.
The increased presence of Industrial/Gothic/Electro stuff on the list is, in part due to the fact that I'm listening to more of that sort of music and partly due to the fact that I find it easier to exercise to that sort of music - Iris, In Strict Confidence, The Cruxshadows & Heimataerde all work really well for my when I am at the gym.
2007, 2008 and the start of 2009 have been as bad as some of the worst years of the 1990s in terms of new music. Its already almost may and I think that so far I've purchased only 6 releases from this year.
