Hello. Here is what I have been listening to in the past week.
1. SND (+52, 41 plays)
SND's Tenderlove is the only album I have, so I don't really know how it compares to most of their previous work, but this album seems very overlooked by people who listen to glitchy IDM hip-hop stuff like Prefuse 73 and Machine Drum. Of course, it's is a lot more sparse and minimal than either of those artists, but, to me at least, this album is very strongly influenced by hip-hop. It's sort of a mix between instrumental hip-hop and minimal click techno or house, or something.
2. Fluxion (-1, 35 plays)
Fluxion finally loses his top spot on the charts, but I have a feeling the he (or his other alias, Silex) may be reappearing when I get ahold of Spaces and Alphabet.
3. Jan Jelinek (+4, 32 plays)
4. Boom Bip & Doseone (+49, 28 plays)
I have "Circle" and I listened to it this week. I haven't even come close to understanding it, but for some reason I know it's a great album, maybe even a "masterpiece". There's just something about the atmosphere of it. I don't know. I need to listen and concentrate more.
5. Farben (+140, 19 plays)
5. Shadow Huntaz (+33, 19 plays)
I finally realized how good "Corrupt Data" is. When I first got the album it just sounded pretty average, but now, although I'm by no means "hugely into" hip-hop (yet), the production seems pretty unique and unlike anything else I've heard. I guess when I first got the album I was expecting more melodies and hooks after hearing Funckarma's "Solid State".
7. Sutekh (+138, 16 plays)
8. Matrix (+79, 14 plays)
This is the artist Matrix from Chain Reaction. I you have tagged the artist for music from the Matrix movies as "Matrix", you need to Get Your Damn Tags Right!
8. MRI (new, 14 plays)
MRI, along with Safety Scissors and Crane A.K. appear here because I found a Force Tracks mix CD called Hypercity. It's a pretty good DJ-style mix of some sort of house music. It also had a remix of Luomo's "Tessio", which is one of my favorite tracks ever, but unfortunately the remix was pretty disappointing compared to the original.
10. Loscil (+77, 12 plays)
10. Safety Scissors (new, 12 plays)
10. Crane A.K. (new, 12 plays)
Next week's charts may contain many exciting new artists such as Monolake, I-F, Ester Brinkmann, and Vainqueur (all of which I am expecting to receive albums by in the mail soon), and probably some others if I get any new CDs for my birthday.
