I've been putting the vegan thing off for years. It was always "I'll do it next year" and it just never happened. But I've set a date, I'll complete the switch by Christmas...which should be interesting. The family found it hard enough with me being a vegetarian and now I'm going more extreme. The hardest thing about it is constantly reading labels at grocery stores...so time consuming. But worth it. I have to write letters to the universities too as I'm applying as a mature student. Thats proving to be more of a challenge than I anticipated. So what are you taking in school? Tchaikovsky...as with most people I'm only familiar with the 1812 Overture. Using a cannon as a musical instrument was genious.

Yeah sounds like it was a good show. Im going to see them twice next year, got front row seats to one of the shows. The other is general admission so who knows about that one. I heard they filmed that rooftop show so I'm hoping to see it at some point. The new album is definitely among their best in my opinion, I bought the vinyl version, sounds great. I'm doing fairly well for the most part. Just got over a case of pneumonia, but at least it wasnt H1N1. Today I have to meet with a dietician for advice as I'm moving from vegetarian to vegan. Want to do it healthily. Also getting my affairs in order for the University application next month. Busy busy. How are things down south?

Passion Pit's "Little Islands" has me hooked. I can't wait to give it a listen in the car, it seems like a tasty highway jam.

I'm pleased to hear you enjoyed the film. It's quite staggering to consider the work and effort that went into hand drawing that animation. You aren't the only one whose tastes have taken a turn for the electronic; that seems to be a common trend of the past decade. I'm no great Radiohead fan, but I have to give them some credit for the advent of electronic sonic experimentation in popular music. Speaking of, there is a marvelous little band called Phoenix that I have recently discovered. You may know them by an older song called "Summer Days". I highly recommend their latest album, with emphasis on "1901", "Lasso" and "Girlfriend". As a fan of Vampire Weekend, you'll notice that I opted against the use of an oxford comma :^) I've been looking forward to their new release. The band reminds me of The Shins and Midlake, in that they have released a relatively small amount of material but all of it has been stellar stuff. Have a happy Halloween.

I just saw Blue Rodeo's performance for the Canada Walk of Fame on youtube. Kind of funny seeing them all in suits. They're usually dressed so casual.

University. I probably should have went right after high school to save some time but I was kind of sick of school at the time....now im sick of this type of life and miss the mental stimulation school can provide. Well that and bigger pay cheques at the end. Also im really into politics so what better place to be than the capital.

Ah, sounds good. So you got paid to see them then. haha. I'd like to have a job like that, unfortunately no one big ever comes to Timmins....well except Shania Twain once every five years or so but I'm not much of a fan of her. Maybe next year when I move to Ottawa.

Sobre mim

WHO AM I?
Hi, my name is Carly. To fill this space I'll tell you my favourite foods are avocados, raspberries, shrimp, ice cream, mangoes, & waffles. My favourite passtime is photography. My philosophy on life is compliments of The Beatles, "all the world is birthday cake, so take a piece, but not too much."
Most of the time I wish I was a teenager in the late 80's/ early 90's. Mostly because of my musical tastes, but also because I could totally rock the big hair.
Maybe one summer when I'm really rich I'll roadtrip around the States & hit up all the music festivals. Coachella, South By Southwest, Sasquatch!, Bonnaroo, etc. I don't know if it's highly romanticised but I like the idea of hitting the open road with someone who plays guitar, wearing flowers in my hair, sleeping under the stars, & getting lost in the music.
Right now I'm just a starving artist studying art in school (& I mean that literally - we seem to talk about food alot in class). Art school is amazing, I don't know any other place where you get to dance with your professor as part of a lecture.
If I ask you about what type of music you listen to & you tell me 'I listen to everything' I will immediately retaliate with 'even opera?' & if that doesn't stump you it will be 'even Gregorian chants?' For the record, yes I do listen to opera (liturgical chants of Christianity not so much).
I am proud to be Canadian.
I am young despite the years.
You may be right, I may be crazy.
Feel free to shout or suggest music!!
