1. How did you get into 29?

Aww... Flogging Molly. <3 Back when I was into the punk/emo scene (a phase of mine I hope to never relive) I always loved Flogging Molly, and they're one of the very few bands that actually still gets a listen or two from time to time. I think I first heard them through a Warped Tour compilation CD (2005, I think it was) and it's all downhill from there. :P

Candy, back on Nickelodeon when I was like eight or something. XD I'm so glad she's evolved from shallow teen pop.

For being a europop band, t.A.T.u.'s songs are all pretty gloomy! If I had to pick one, though, it would be Robot if only because of how funny the Russian sounds. :P

Basically, you listen to any Nightwish tracks and mark off any spaces when you hear the word inside of them. You'd be surprised by how quickly you can make a row or two. ;P (Hint... Beauty Of The Beast and Wishmaster have a lot of these.)

My cat loves to hang out in my room, which means he is subjected to each and every song I listen to.

Today, I was beyond bored and decided to test out what his favorite music is. If he seemed more satisfied during a song - he became friendlier, purred, etc. I knew this song was a good one.

And when he doesn't like a song, he really shows it - he hides under the bed or "meow"s really loudly. It's kind of funny, actually...

Anyway, my "experiment" turned out as follows.

Notably favored songs

Wizards in Winter - Trans-Siberian Orchestra
I suppose it really isn't hard to see why someone with no linguistic knowledge would love such a track - it's airy, catchy, and will satisfy even the shortest attention span. Plus, there are none of those... "word" things to distract you. Actually, my cat's a pretty big Trans-Siberian Orchestra fan - other TSO favorites of his include O Come All Ye Faithful and A Mad Russian's Christmas. However, there were some TSO tracks he was less than thrilled to hear - the most obvious being Faith Noel, where he hissed at the computer speakers. Shame... that's a great track.

Stars Are Blind - Paris Hilton
In his defense, it is a damn catchy song. And come on, how's a cat supposed to know that she's actually a whore and lacks any talent whatsoever? I didn't even bother testing any other Paris Hilton tracks; I was shocked enough after I saw him rub his head against the speakers when this one was playing.

Tempus Vernum - Enya
Heh. I think he really likes this one... his ears perked up the minute he heard the first second of it. He wouldn't look away from the speaker until about the two minute mark, where he proceeded to run around the hallway. He has no attention span.

Notably disliked songs

The Kinslayer - Nightwish
I never hated my cat more than when I realized that it was almost painful for him to sit through this amazing track. I was beginning to give up hope in my cat's taste, so I decided to test more Nightwish tracks. Nemo? Nope. Walking In The Air? Loathed it. Amaranth, surely? Nope. I hate my cat sometimes.

Witch Doctor - Alvin and The Chipmunks
This is the version from the movie, if anyone's wondering. Anyway... I think this song was just too much at once for him to take. The obnoxious beat, the even more obnoxious male voice in the background of the song... the best part of this was seeing his face when he heard the Chipmunks' voices. It was like he was seeing visions of the world collapsing. Priceless.

In conclusion, my cat has awful taste. Maybe I'll try more experimenting with his music taste later, but I think he was getting really sick of it and just wanted to go sleep or something. Poor cat. Maybe my dog can be my next music victim.
