Dez 2 2005, 14h21I recently (2 days ago) discoverd Kamelot and i totally dig it :) Kamelot - March of Mephisto is a good start (rest of that album is pretty good too)
i really LOVE opeth, my room mate started me on it and it is now probably my favourite band, i generally dislike(growling vocals) black metal, but opeth is unique. I started by listening to their prog-rock album called Damnation, every track on it is lovely (i recommend windowpane, closure and death whispered a lullabye). Then i listened to Harvest Bleak and The Drapery Falls on the blackwater park album. After that i moved to the Deliverance album where opeth was heavier, buti really enjoyed it i recommend listening to Deliverance and Master Apprentices they are awesome tracks. Right now i LOVE their newest album Ghost Reveries, my fav track there is The Grand Conjuration and Ghost of Perdition if u see my most played tacks ull see whats been played the most ;)
I hope to make an opeth fan of you, if not the heavy opeth (the way opeth is supposed to be ;)), at least Prog-rock opeth.
i can add somre more suggestions later if u'd like -

Dez 2 2005, 14h38Well, the double-album Lemuria / Sirius B is a good start to Therion, I think. It represents the last development of the band, especially Sirius B tries new ways. Haggard, uhmm, that's hard stuff. Evanescence only were good on their Fallen disc. You also should consider to discover Out of season by Beth Gibbons, the singer of Portishead. -

Dez 2 2005, 15h30@joikabilly,
like u do, i enjoy the soft Opeth then the hard one. But they also inserted nice short medleys in hard tracks. They are lovely too.
An addition to your soft selections (by the way i like them too :)) Face of Melinda is very emotional and as i called face shape changer. And also Benighted.
İf i try to describe a Face shape changer song, it can transform your face from a mimic to another. It's like u wanna give all of your talent in an audition :))
While you listen, the song moves you high with it's ritm... Hopefully i can give u some idea for the meaning : ))
I haven't got Ghost Reveries yet but i'll...
And, of course i like more suggestion...
Thank u so much -

Dez 2 2005, 15h43Well, you already have blink-182 and Green Day, so I suggest picking up Offspring to round that out. The album titled Smash is the best pick.
Seeing Therion, Dream Theater, etc. up there, I was going to suggest Iron Maiden, but I see you just finished listening to one of their songs.
If you can, pick up some more Apocalyptica. Their original orchestrations are quite impressive, in my opinion, in addition to their awesome covers. -

Dez 2 2005, 15h45Frou Frou's got two solo CDs, the first one called i Megaphone (which is hard as hell to find) and the second Speak for Yourself. i Megaphone is darker and less poppy, but also less addictive than Speak for Yourself. Both are crazy good. -

Dez 2 2005, 15h47Yea, i couldnt agree more, i've concentrated on the newer albums really, but i've listened to them all. I try to listen more often to the Still life, my arms your hearse and orchid albums.
Face of melinda is an extremely moving song, love it :)
On another note I'd like to recommend Tool, and the vocalist's (Maynard James Keenan....what an awesome voice) side band: A Perfect Circle. Tool's Lateralus (The Grudge, Schism, Lateralus, Disposition and Reflection) album is just pure heaven to listen to...extremely moody and lovely music. Also have to recommend their Ænima (Stinkfist, eulogy, fortysix & 2 and OF COURSE Ænema) album. From older albums u have Sober, and prison sex.
A Perfect Circle's album Mer De Noms (The Hollow, Judith, Magdalena, 3 Libras). Thirteenth Step is also a very moody album, maynards voice is awsome here (The Package, weak and powerless, the noose, and my favourite here: pet)
Then of course i'd have to say...everything by Faith No More :D Mike Patton is a genius with his voice, if u'd like to hear what he's capable of with it u should check out His side projects: Mr Bungle, Fantomas and Tomahawk....just awesome
\m/ ò_Ó - keep on rocking -

Dez 2 2005, 16h02Check out Dream Theater's side projects - Liquid Tension Experiment is awesome instrumental jazzy-prog metal you might like, with Petrucci, Portnoy and Rudess.
If you like In Flames, give Dark Tranquillity a go. Fairly similar style.
Try Muse - you could say their like a metal version of Radiohead - more distortion, faster & rockier songs. The outro of Exit Music (For A Film) by Radiohead is sorta the style that Muse do, but generally faster, and with pianos.
Dream Theater fans generally like a few of the following bands too: Pain of Salvation, Tool, Porcupine Tree. Pain of Salvation is unique metal; deep concept albums with hard-to-describe music. Tool - joikabilly knows more about them than I. Porcupine Tree - their early stuff was psychadelic, and I don't you think you'd be into that, but their last three or so albums, Deadwing, In Absentia, and Lightbulb Sun, are highly recommended and loved by most. Prog with good melodies and solid songwriting. -

Dez 2 2005, 16h19Hi,
Hm...Pain Of Salvation (progmetal) and Porcupine Tree (new artrock) , that's true. If you like Radiohead, I'd also recommend you Muse (alternative). Fates Warning (progmetal) and Riverside (dark art/progrock/metal) probably'd be good choices too. -
