Cool, cool. I'll listen to the first one soon! I've heard that Best Coast's first album is their better one. Yeah, I definitely don't like it as much as their earlier ones. Metric's last two albums aren't as good as their first two, at least in my opinion.

Oh! How did you like Metric's newest?

Nice. Sounds like it'll be a good evening! I'd say hanging around with your friend would be better than driving along the Interstate in the middle of the night. :D I haven't listened to any Best Coast... I've been meaning to. Dunno why I put it off. Don't they play kind of surf pop or psychadelic pop or whatever? Sounds like a weird combination.

It sucks that the one in Maine got cancelled. D: Would you want to stay in CT overnight? Best Coast are opening? Weird pairing, though I hear they're good live. Yeah, I listened to it! It's one of my favourite albums of last year. Like you said, it isn't his strongest record, though it's still good.

You're seeing them in April? Nice. I didn't know that Armstrong was out of rehab, though at least you can see them live after all! Yeah, the trip seems like a bit of a drag. Roadtrips can be fun though. Noticed that you listened to the new Brendan Benson album. How did you like it?!

I pretty much agree, actually... Dos is still growing on me. I think I like Uno and Tre about the same. Still pretty happy that we got three good records from GD in '12.

Oh! And have you given the two newest Green Day albums (Dos and Tre) a listen? If so, what did you think of them?

Cheers! It's proof that I listen to a lot of music, I guess, haha.

Saw a shout you put up for Locksley and went to your page. Some interesting bands there. I'll have to give your radio a listen. I"m always pushing a band called The Floor is Made of Lava. They are a Danish band. If you're looking to hear something new, give their a radio a listen. Take care.

That sucks, though. D: I hope school becomes less boring soon!

Aah, OK. Understood, can see why both the bachelors and masters would be difficult to compare, haha. It sucks that you're lonely or whatever. Why did most of your friends leave? Because they finished their degrees, I'm assuming? Have you had a chance to meet any new people within your new program? Are you still going to the same university?

Aah OK. I assume the wolves were overhunted or something? So far, do you like graduate school more than undergrad? About the same?

Indeed it is. This'll be my second bachelor's degree. It was a huge relief, receiving my first one. Nice! Your project sounds interesting! The wolves in Maine are endangered/threatened?! Yeah, my brother started his Masters. He had a similar observation - he's taking two courses and TAing. That seems to be a huge difference between a baccalaureate and a masters. I can see why it would seem more like a job than school - seems like you're doing more actual work than schoolwork, if that makes sense.

Well, I'm enjoying this semester so far. However, I just can't wait to get this degree out of the way. If that makes sense, haha. Nice! What are you doing in grad school? Does it differ much from your experiences as an undergrad, so far? Nice. I haven't listened to much Best Coast, though they seem like a great band. Sounds like a good lineup!

It's going well! Yeah, I'm back in school. I started earlier this month. Can't wait until this school year is over haha. How about you? Are you back in school? I liked some of their more arena rock-ish stuff, though I much prefer their pop punk stuff. It's great that they're releasing three records in rapid succession. You're seeing them in January?! Awesome! I bet you're excited! Is anyone opening for them?

I'm good, too, thanks! I bought the album yesterday. I'm on my second listen through now... I agree with you, it's very reminiscent of their older stuff. I prefer their more straight up pop-punk sound, so it's good they decided to return to it. Definitely a step up from American Idiot. Haven't listened to 21st Century Breakdown yet... Either way, I can't wait for their next two albums.

Sobre mim

I'm 24 and am a Wildlife Ecology Masters student (studying black bear denning) at the University of Maine in Orono, but I'm from New York. And no, not the city. I also have dual bachelor's degrees in Zoology and Ecology & Environmental Sciences from UMaine and am planning to work in wildlife conservation, quite possibly in a national park. I've played guitar since I was 15, but I don't play nearly as much as I should or would like to. I think I'm a pretty open minded person and would love to talk to people about music, the environment, or just about anything, so feel free to post a shout. I would, however, ask you not to randomly friend request me because I will most likely not accept it. At least try to get to know me a little bit first. If you already know me, be sure to let me know who you are when you friend request or else I might turn you down.

Now on to the music. Well... I love music. I generally stick with rock, alternative, and punk music, but I have a few favorite bands that are a little out of those genres. I've also been attempting to expand my musical tastes a bit (my roommate freshman year loved country, screamo, and Hawaiian music), so I'm giving a lot of bands/genres I never liked a chance and have been pleasantly surprised with a few. I'm always searching for new music, so feel free to recommend some of your favorite bands or songs to me. As of right now, some of my favorite bands include Nirvana, The Clash, Kaiser Chiefs, Locksley, Operation Ivy, and Squirtgun. However, my charts still reflect bands that I enjoy listening to. It is a bit skewed, due to the size of my collections by particular artists, because I sometimes listen to my music on shuffle. Obviously, this causes bands with the most songs owned by me to be played more often. But, this hasn't majorly upset my charts, so it is no big deal.

And, when looking at my top tracks, don't mind Welcome To Paradise. It doesn't count unless you divide it in half and it's more than the next top track. I have two versions of Welcome To Paradise and never distinguished between them in the track's title. Additionally, if there are any unusually high plays for "unusual for me" artists in my recent top tracks, it is most likely as a result of me learning how to play that song on guitar and playing along with my iPod. Also, keep in mind that I'm kind of off my Green Day addiction, so I don't listen to them like I used to (eight years ago, now) anymore...
don't fear that high Green Day count, okay?

If you want an accurate depiction of my current musical tastes, I suggest looking at my charts over the last 12 months rather than overall.
