Jul 28 2006, 4h45I made a massive list of all post-rock bands from Wikipedia, in the form that the foo_autoplaylist plugin (for foobar) accepts. (Artists like Sigur Ros, God Is An Astronaut, Mogwai, etc.) This will give you a result of every post-rock artist you have in your database, regardless of what the genre tags say. Perfect for people with very large collections of music.
Download it here. (Make sure you right-click > save link as, otherwise you'll just get a white screen.)
I'm probably going to make some more for other genres, like doom metal/sludge. If anyone cares, just keep tabs on this entry for new ones. Oh and if you want a perfect sort format for the playlist, use this.
Update: Here is one for the list of doom metal bands.
Jul 11 2006, 3h48I'm a pretty big fan of the way last.fm looks, but since I have some nice fonts that I can swap out for the default ones, there's a firefox extension called greasemonkey that lets you customize websites with scripts. I used a script (Cskinner) that lets you edit the site's CSS, so I just tinkered around with it for a while.
I'm also using:
• Last.fm - Highlight Same Artists: Highlights artists that you listen to on other users' profiles.
• Last.fm Chart Changes: Show chart changes over a period of time for most charts on Last.fm.
Jul 9 2006, 7h43I just came across the music of Oceansize. They are tagged mostly as progressive rock, to me they sound like post-rock but heavier at times. Hard to explain the bands that are really good.
Preview this album:
Everyone Into Position
By the way, the idea for the group "Spread the word about great music" is awesome. I plan to post many findings there

I've been using my dark themes way too much, so I went for something else that was still dark enough that it doesnt blind me while im working in windows explorer. I just realised I can use any theme I want and just change the Window and Application Background colors (in Display Properties -> Appearance -> Advanced) to a darker color. Duhhhhh. The only problem I have with this config is that I ditched the code I used for the playlist view without realising that the stock columns_ui doesnt have a color for the song that is currently playing. In other news, I spent over 5 hours in the sun yesterday without sunscreen, so my skin feels absolutely wonderful today. :P
For the track info panel, the track name will light up orange when the song has been submitted to last.fm. Here is the code for that:
