Fr., 25. Jun. – Graspop Metal Meeting 2010
Friday
Nile
Nile was the single band I wanted to see at the first day. I just saw the last Songs, one was Sarcophagus and another one was Lashed to the Slave Stick, my favourite song of them !
I have been behind the crowd but enjoyed the show. The Screen with the skull was quiet cool. That was a nice start into the weekend.
Saturday
The following Day started with Hail of Bullets, that was the greatest suprise for me of the whole weekend. I didn't know a song of them, but found their show absolutely amazing. They played hammering death metal similar to Bolt Thrower. After their show i headed towards the mainstage …
Sabaton, one of my favourite live Bands, kicked ass. They've done a marvelous preformance, Joakim joked as usual and promotes their upcoming shows. The Band was great and the audience celebrated them ! They played Ghost division, Panzer battalion, Attero Dominatus, Primo Victoria (Joakim: "And now we're coming to the gay part: you have to jump"), Screaming Eagles, Saboteurs, Coat of Arms, The Art of War, Cliffs of Gallipoli and Metal Ripper as Final.
After that Dark Funeral played in Marquee 1. I just know Stigmata and My Funeral. I don't know the band very good, so the concert was no highlight for me, but okay.
After an hour Cannibal Corpse conquered the Tent. Many People we're there, but the atmosphere back there where i stood was too calm for a fantastic Cannibal-Concert. That I found a bit dissapointing. At least they played a lot of good songs like Hammer Smashed Face, Stripped Raped and Strangled, Make them Suffer, Priests of Sodom and I Will Kill You.
My last band for that noon was 3 Inches of Blood, their second singer doesn't convinced me, but since Hooper left it was a solution. I once saw 3Iob in Wacken but didn't remembered them so good. Their show was a whole Party, with their Metal-celebrating Style ! I very enjoied Pipes Vocals great job ! From the new album they played Battles and Brotherhood (opener), Call of the Hammer, Execution Tank and Silent Killer, as well as the older ones Deadly Sinners, Wykydtron, Trial of Champions and The Goatrider's Horde as last.
After a break there was just Immortal left to see that day. They did a good show, with cool elements like the crabwalk, the fire spitting and looking grim with their paintings. From their Set I knew the first 3 songs of their new album All Shall Fall, The Rise Of Darkness and Hordes To War. Else I recognized Damned In Black (i love that) and One By One. I'm actually unsure, did they played Tyrants ? I hoped they also play Unearthy Kingdom, but that wasn't the case. However great Concert, great day overall !
Sunday
I really looked forward to Necrophobic, but that was a bit dissapointing. Compared to their records, the live-gig was boring, althought they played their good songs Blinded By Light, Enlighted By Darkness, Shadowseeds or I Stike With Wrath. There we're very few people, which is kind of good because i could easily stand in the front. It was not bad, but I expected more.
In the Afternoon the weather became like a sunburning-killingmachine, Exodus played at the Mainstage. I'm not a great Exodus Fan, but think they did a good concert, playing War is my Shepherd and Blacklist. Especially the Guys with the watertubes got my Sympathy !!
Next, back in the Tent played Alestorm, my Mate is a fan of them, so it seemed to be a great gig. The Crowd was shaking, singing and whatelse and the band gave their Best Songs.
Following up it was Behemoth-Time, their opening song Ov Fire And The Void was amazing, but is also the one song of them I know a bit. So for me it was no real Highlight, but i'm glad i have seen them now.
Another hour later I visitied Bloodbath's Gig, their frontman talked quiet a lot and told us, that this is just their 6th concert. This was just like Behemoth to me, i don't know any Song. So finally
the last band for me this Evening was Amon Amarth. I compare them to Sabaton, as they are live simply gorgeous ! I stood in the first line, and the concert was the whole time just moshing, singing and screaming ! That Event was a real Highlight with Songs like Victorious March, Death In Fire, Pursuit Of Vikings, Live For The Kill, Guardians Of Asgaard, Runes To My Memory, Asator, Varyags Of Miklagaard, Thousand Years Of Oppression and Cry of the Blackbirds. During The Blackbirds the power shut down, so Johan Hegg jumped in playing an Entertainer for the Crowed. We Made kind-of Laola-Waves, sung Pursuit of Vikings and after that thay played the same Song as last one.
So like this Concert the whole Weekend was greatly !
