The Bewitched - Without A Net

Im März hab ich eine tolle Entdeckung im Netz gemacht, die Band „The Bewitched“.
Nämlich das Duo Mary (alias 'Mimi Ray'), und Eric Elliot aus St Paul, Minnesota, USA, mit ihrem zweiten Album. Was die Beiden hier abliefern ist bemerkenswert.
Unglaublich gut produziert, ohne kommerziell zu wirken.
Mary singt auf dem Album und spielt Hackbrett und Harfenzither. Eric singt auch, übernimmt Keyboards, Schlaginstrumente und Gitarre.
Mich erinnert das persönlich an „Ataraxia“, wenn man von dem störenden Vibrato- Gesang der Italienerin absieht. Cabaret Noir, Ethereal, Steampunk und Darkwave könnte man als Stilbezeichnung hernehmen. Die beiden entwickeln daraus ihre ganz eigene Mixtur, das klingt alles sehr zielsicher.
Die ersten 4 Titel sind sicherlich die besten, „Another Day, Another Life“, meine #1. Beginnend mit dem fünften Stück „Olde Lullaby“, flacht das Album etwas ab, wird ruhiger und klingt aus.
Der Web-Release soll demnächst auch als CD erscheinen, ein Video ist ebenfalls in Arbeit.
Das Album gibt es zum Download auf ihrer Bandcamp Seite, mit dem Vermerk: "Buy Now, name your price".
Da sie Konzerte spielen, und zu hoffen ist, daß sie eines im guten alten Europa geben, laß ich mir den Termin keinesfalls entgehen.

I made an awesome discovery on the net lately, the band "The Bewitched".
Namely the duo Mary (a.k.a. 'Mimi Ray'), and Eric Elliot from St Paul, Minnesota (USA), with their second album. What the two of them deliver here, is remarkable.
Extraordinarily well produced, without sounding commercial.
Mary sings on the album, plays dulcimer and autoharp. Eric contributes vocals, keyboards, percussion and guitar.
I personally get reminded of "Ataraxia", if you subtract the stressed vibrato vocals by the Italian singer. Cabaret Noir, Ethereal, Steampunk and Darkwave can be applied as a tag. They develop their own unique blend, it all sounds very accurate.
The first 4 titles are certainly the best, "Another Day, Another Life", is my #1. Beginning with the fifth track "Olde Lullaby", the album fades out a little, becomes calmer and quieter.
The web-file will be released on physical CD the coming days, a video is in the works too.

'Cos they perform concerts, and hopefully they do one in Good Ol' Europe someday, I will definitely not miss that date.
