I tend to discuss movies with internet friends. It's not the same but it's easier to find kindred spirits. Then you'll need to find a girl who's into films as well. ;-) It's too expensive to go to a bad movie these days.

I know I put it rather crudely but the actual watching of the movie requires no involvement from another party. It's however very nice to talk about the movie afterwards like you say. As for dates, I think it's just a good excuse to be next to that pretty girl you like so much. ;-)

We only found out about it last year. I don't think it's very well known in Ghent. The regular cinemas are very expensive over here as well. I only go when I have free tickets. Yeah, it's more fun to go with somebody although it's pretty weird when you think about it. The so-called "social activity" with your friend consists of sitting in a dark room and staring at a screen for 2 hours. :p

I've seen a quite few now and she has aged very gracefully. Hopefully I can see 'Les Demoiselles De Rochefort' in the KASK cinema one day. Then I can admire both Catherine Deneuve and Françoise Dorléac! ^^ Thanks, school is keeping me busy but I'm going to the movies more often than I used to. I might have asked you this before but have you ever seen a classic on the silver screen?

Yeah, we seem to be on the same wave length. I'm not a huge fan of Buñuel either but I liked 'Belle De Jour' better than when I first saw it. In addition, I saw Catherine Deneuve (at her most beautiful) on the big screen. :D The Ghent film school (KASK) shows a classic every week and the it's very cheap. "Belle De Jour" wasn't shown at the KASK cinema though. They showed it because of the Ghent Film Fest. You can go see new and classic movies in cinemas all over the city this week.

I'll be sure to "visit" the cave with Mr. Herzog one of these days. ;-) I noticed we both watched a movie by Luis Buñuel yesterday. I went to see "Belle De Jour" on the big screen.

There are a lot of interesting stories about Kinski. They filmed Aguirre in the rainforest with actual natives. At a certain point the natives offered Herzog to kill Kinski. :p Even Kinski's children weren't fond of him. I love how he can easily go from dead serious to hilarious in interviews. He's great at interacting with the people he interviews. No, Cave of Forgotten Dreams is still on my watchlist. Oh, that's cool. Have you visited the cave?

I'm definitely going to watch 'Aguirre' one of these days. Klaus Kinski is such a legend, I'm curious to see what all the fuss is about. Bad Lieutenant was pretty bad indeed. Nicolas Cage has been making a lot of crap these past few years. The first time I heard his accent was in Grizzly Man and I found it rather funny but now I don't even notice it anymore. He expresses himself very well.

Well it was very nice to watch a movie together. ;-) My brother became a big Herzog fan a few months back so he gave me some of his films and I quite like him as well. I agree, I like his documentaries better than his films although I haven't seen his most popular ones. He's probably my favorite documentarist though. 'Lektionen in finsternis' was really captivating!

I see you also watched 'Lektionen in Finsternis'. :-)

Thanks! :) I didn't notice it until I was a few songs past 100 000. I believe my 100 000th song was one by Björk. You're already at almost half a million! :p

I like her best in those 40s noir films. She was a really great femme fatale. Social media allows you to have many friends but not necessarily good friends. A lot of those sites are just used to "collect" as many friends as possible while they aren't even that close with 75% of their so called friends. Yeah, that’s one of the few plus sides of education.

There was also a funny piece of trivia in which Lancaster confessed he got more than a little turned on when Ava Gardner kissed him. ;-) The Birdman of Alcatraz was one of my earlier classics. They showed it on MGM or TCM and my father said it was a good film. Same here, there is so much interesting stuff out there. Sometimes it's hard to choose what to watch first. I've seen about 24-25 Hitch films and I'm not even halfway haha. If you can finish Bogie's filmography than I'm sure you can finish Hitch's. I don't see anyone from primary school anymore. There was this guy who was in my class all throughout primary school and high school but now I don't see him anymore. The oldest friend I have with someone I see on a regular basis is probably 7 years. I'm also good friends with someone I've known for over 9 years but we hardly see each other anymore. I've made several friends at college though.

Lancaster was best in noir films for sure. He had the perfect look for it. I don't remember the first thing I saw him in. Perhaps it was 'The Birdman Of Alcatraz'. I believe he started quite late with his career and he worked in the circus before he started acting or something like that. I've been a movie geek ever since I was a child. Computers weren't important for me until I was 15. Even nowadays I use my computer for films and music mostly. Do you still see many friends from school?

I actually liked 'The Unforgiven' as a film but feel a little bit uneasy when watching it because of what happened on the set. I heard Bogart was polite but no more than needed. :p I got to admit that dress is pretty amazing. One of my all time favorites, it really suited her perfectly. I also really like the scene where she sang "La Vie En Rose". It's normal for you taste to evolve but surely there must be some things you look back on with a nice feeling of nostalgia.

She did a lot of comedies but she also made a western, a thriller, a musical, a historical piece. She was pretty versatile although comedies were indeed her forte. Sabrina is very popular but it's not one of my favorite Audrey films. She didn't really have chemistry with Bogart and the love story between them was ridiculous. It's actually pretty weird since in real life he was married to Bacall haha. I don't know if I ever saw the entire series but I remember watching it on a regular basis. Have you ever revisited your childhood television shows? :-)

I have the DVD and it's one of my most prized possessions. I think it was the second time I saw both actresses (I had seen Breakfast at Tiffany's and The Apartment before if I'm not mistaken). Audrey had just won my heart and it was on YouTube so I decided to watch it one afternoon. My life was never the same afterwards. :-) Are you a fan of Audrey and Shirley? Yeah, studios did that a lot . Some of these screen couples had great chemistry though. I know, it's not like me to get nostalgic . ;-) It aired in the late 50s starred Guy Williams as Zorro. It brings back so many memories watching it now.

Both movies you've mentioned look interesting. I still haven't visited Paris but the dream is there. Yet again I'm merely romanticizing Paris but it would be lovely to visit it one day. Ann Sheridan appeared in some good movies but I haven't seen her in a lead role either. She died pretty "young" didn't she? Btw, did you ever watch the Disney tv-show of Zorro? I started watching it again this week and now I'm reliving my childhood. :D

My sidebar changes constantly and there are a few favorites who always return. :-) A bit of female beauty helps create a nice atmosphere on my page. You certainly don't forget it easily. I agree, it's a mix of pure tragedy and beauty in a way. It's like a moment of tenderness frozen in time. Touch of Evil was one of the first movies I watched when I was really getting into the classics. I watched several classics as a child without even knowing it but I became a real addict at 16. The Children's Hour set it all in motion. :-)

Do you remember your first introduction into Hollywood's Golden Age? It will be a cold day in Hell when I watch 'Grace de Monaco' haha. There are numerous factors that putt me off as we've discussed before. No worries of becoming enemies, although I'm sure you would make a worthy opponent. ;-) Have you seen anything I might like since we last spoke? That's a pretty eye-catching sidebar you have there btw.
