Glad I could be of service. On a side note, I did a cost-benefit analysis of the Ulver-show. And sadly came to the conclusion that it would break my summer budget. I'm tight on cash enough already, and with travel-expenses I just can't afford it. I wish you all the best of luck though ;) Have twice the fun for me.

As for Maiden, I had a problem with them for a long time, but my girlfriend is huge fan. She went to the Ullevi 05 show and I figured I'd at least have to give them a listen. It didn't really catch on from the start, but eventually I got caught. And once that happened I was screwed :p They're an immensely solid band. Not many that can release albums after thirty years that still rival the debut ;) If you're actually interested in checking them out, I'd recommend starting with Iron Maiden and Killers + Maiden Japan. Which was with another vocalist who had a distinctly more punky style. That's where I found my first "god I love this song"-moments. Especially Phantom of the Opera, Remember Tomorrow, Innocent Exile and Purgatory. The problem with Maiden is that they're really singles heavy, yet the actual gems are the longer more experimental tracks on the albums. For instance, Hallowed be thy Name slays any other track on Number of the Beast, yet Run to the Hills is the one on the radio.

The thruth is that none of Burzums albums deal explicitly with NSBM-subjects. At worst there's a national-romanticism that and a "days of yore"-fascination. I'd say that it's no different than Peste Noire or many other BM-bands. His role as an ideologue seemed to start after he'd written most of his albums. He released Daudi Baldrs and Hlidskjalf after he went to jail and got all neo-nazi, but they don't contain any lyrics (nor are they very good, just ambient dark synth stuff, no metal at all). The first album I got was Hvis Lyset Tar Oss, basically for the track "Det Som En Gang Var", which is probably my favourite to this day. I'd recommend you try out that album, Filosofem (which is slower, more DSBM), as well as Burzum/Aske which were the first, really traditional BM albums. Those are really the only ones you need to be interested in.
