Nice amount of James! I might be moving to Vancouver in the near future, what are the odds of starting up a West Coast Nuisance?

Hello, you are currently in the top3 list of "true listeners" of radio absoluterad90s: see here

Well, except the Sugababes. I think we get more than our fair share of them this side of the pond.

OK, so apparently our musical compatibility is "Low" but looking at your top whatever lists, I have ALL THAT STUFF. Just not on my computer. Oh well.

So I put together a 'Midlife' playlist to see what it would theoretically be all about. While it is a bit disjointed - "Out of Time" into "Blue Jeans" into "Song 2" makes very little sense - it does seem to give a better overview of the band than 'The Best Of' did. But no "There's No Other Way"? Nonsense.

'Badhead' is very, very underrated, I agree. I realized on this listen that the latter half of the album doesn't get nearly the attention it should, particularly 'Trouble in the Message Centre'. Going through the b-sides again, I'd also forgotten how 'People in Europe' trumps the OTT euro-pop of 'Girls & Boys' and that 'Theme from an Imaginary Film' is one of the best bitter fuck off songs to an ex ever, even if it is totally insincere. And the jazz-piss take of 'Beard' is still hysterical 15 or so years later. [Has it been that long? Christ.]

So I listened to "Parklife" for the first time in ages yesterday - and its b-sides, for that matter - and while I've always thought it as my second least favorite Blur album, I think it finally clicked and I get all of the fuss. [Still can't touch "Modern Life is Rubbish" or "Blur", but that's a different discussion.] All of that said, I still HATE 'To The End' with the burnings of a thousand suns and when I accidentally leaned on my iPod and skipped over it - totally on accident - I wasn't that upset.

I've been listening to "One Touch" quite a bit lately, and it might be climbing up to the pole position in my "Favorite Sugababes Albums" list. It has definately nudged "Three" out of the second place spot. At the very least, it's the most enjoyable from start to finish. ["Taller In More Ways" has that wretched 'Obsession' cover fucking it all up in the final third. :(]

I've always felt that 'Cosmic Thing' gets the shaft in the grand scheme of things because of the inescapable success of "Love Shack" - which, of course, is itself an amazing song. Generally, I've found that people don't seem to feel they can take 'Cosmic Thing' as a whole seriously because it's so obvious as "the popular" B-52's album...however, it's "the popular" B-52's album because it's an amazing album. That, and it has "Roam" which is one of my favorite songs ever.

So, apparently The Saturdays don't want to sell any more records and have decided to release "Issues" as the third single. Thumbs down.

Secondly: if you want an album full of holes in heads, dresses red in colour, or buttons being pushed, you'll need to readjust your expectations. But if you go into 'Catfights & Spotlights' expecting top-of-form ballads and soulful mid-tempo numbers in the vein of 'One Touch', you're in for a treat. -- From the PopJustice review. A bit disheartening, because isn't that was "Change" essentially was? *sigh*

So, the London Elektricity 'Attack Ships on Fire' has nothing to do with the Revolting Cocks song of the same name, does it? Because I got very excited for a moment.
