Never change a winning team! That’s excactly why we stuck to the recipe and spiced it up even a bit: more, more, more! We again managed to be another notch above our last compilation for Übersee Records’ 10th anniversary: more bands, more countriesr, more music – same unbeatable price. Here comes the world’s best and most danceable mix of Ska, Punk, Reggae, Cumbia etc. 23 bands from a total of 15 countries! Yep, we’ve done it again…

Straight to the point: „Echte Ubersee Records Vol. 5“ is THE best ÜBERSEE RECORDS sampler so far! Of course we couldn’t do without PANTEÓN ROCOCÓ from Mexico-City, NO TE VA GUSTAR and ABUELA COCA from Montevideo, Uruguay, and our most international Ska-Punks from Hannover WISECRÄCKER. More international heavy-weights have generously given us unreleased material, such as Germany’s Ska Punk Band No. 1 RANTANPLAN from Hamburg, the Venezuelan inventors of Latin Ska from DESORDEN PÚBLICO, the Punk Rockers of the LOS KUNG FU MONKEYS from Mexico, SKA’N’SKA from Sweden, and LA VELA PUERCA, the probably most famous band of Uruguay. We could hardly believe it ourselves that they actually made it on Übersee for the first time. The same counts for CHE SUDAKA, our friends from the Manu Chao Posse in Barcelona, who had their share in inventing Mestizo in the first place and TALCO, the Italian successors of SKA-P. Herzlich Willkommen! With THE PROSECUTION from Bavaria and LA MENTE from Lima, Peru, we have also found some uprising powers for you. There are some really great Latin Ska and Punk acts from the United States this time which has a very simple. Keyword: immigration in the state of Arizona. There’s a lot of energy bursting it’s way out and you can hear that! LA PLEBE from San Francisco, LA RESISTENCIA from Los Angeles, LOS SKARNALES from Houston, Texas and KOFRE from New York - you don’t know if you want to raise your fist or your dancing shoes first. And in addition to that we celebrate – in contrast to some politicians – the Eastern European expansion: give it a hand for M.A.D. BAND from Russia’s capitol and MAD HEADS XL from the Ukraine. Nastrovje! Musically we also managed to get a band from whole new continent: HOG HOGGIDY HOG from South Africa is our first Africa Song ever!

There’s little unsaid about the bands on this compilation since they have taught Europeans to sit down during a show (PANTEON ROCOCO); proven that you can be just as energetic for 280.000 fans as you can be for a few people on your first European tour (DOCTOR KRAPULA); inventors don’t have to ne Nerds that don’t know how to party (DESORDEN PUBLICO); 2 singers don’t make a boy-group (LA VELA PUERCA); good taste goes for music AND food (ROCOLA BACALAO); music works from Moscow to Tijuana (WISECRÄCKER); it’s never too late to learn Spanish (RANTANPLAN); that we actually do like it (NO TE VA GUSTAR) and last but not least all these bands have managed to add an extra Latin flavor to even the most rocking festivals of the continent with their passion for travelling and endurance! Thanks for that extra musical coloring!!
