Hey Abel, I swear I'm not ignoring you I'm just completely out of the habit of checking my Anyway, that's a pretty sweet concert lineup you've got up ahead! Especially Joanna Newsom... Have One on Me is my record of the year so far and I've heard she kills it on stage. Are you excited for Dylan? When I saw him about two years ago it was pretty awful to put it bluntly. Though I've heard he's kind of hot or miss, and some nights he still puts on great shows so hopefully it'll be awesome. I was planning on seeing both Arcade Fire and Broken Social Scene this summer but couldn't book off work, so the last show I saw was Owen Pallett back in April :( And I go to school in Kingston (about halfway between Montreal and Toronto) so I'm keeping my ear to the ground but no big shows ahead that I know of. Let me know how those concerts go!

Hey Abel! It's been a while. I am absolutely loving the new Arcade Fire, though I am almost getting to the point of over listening to it. I like it a lot better than Neon Bible that's for sure. It's good to hear from you, what's new? Any good musical finds lately?

I love Hunky Dory. Favorite Bowie album, and one of my favorite all time albums. =)

Yeah. I thought I had a lot of listens until she got on here too. At first I felt inadequate, but now I choose to view my number of listens as respectable and hers as ridiculous ha ha ha. =D

I don't know if you got around to listening to blood brothers past crimes yet, but if love rhymes with hidious car wreck was your favorite track you might consider young machettes over burn piano island burn. Young Machetes has some slower (but still, some of my favorate) songs on it, and some parts are more melodic. While Burn Piano Island, Burn is fantastic, it's still evolving out of their very post-hardcore punk rock previous albums. (this is off young machetes)

Hey man, I'm truly sorry that I've been so unresponsive. Being a freshman is quite something I have to say, and Queen's (my school) is infamous for its intense frosh week and initiations. Classes have started up though and I'm starting to get the hang of things. It's a pretty weird sensation being in such a new environment but I'm loving it already. My whole floor in res is friendly and lots of fun, which is a huge plus, and I haven't been homesick yet (I don't anticipate that will be an issue haha). I actually didn't have internet for my first week here because of bugs but obviously this is no longer an issue. I'm finding less and less time for music but I'm sure that will change as the year carries on and things mellow out a little bit. How are things? You're back at UCF this fall are you not? Any good new music you've discovered? With little internet access and no free time I've been unable to keep up to date. Anyway, I'm off to a chem lecture - cheers!

That's too bad and I'm pretty surprised too. I heard they were pretty great live. As for Black Dice, I really dislike their music so I'm not surprised to hear they were equally terrible live. I finally got M83's latest - you should definitely check it out if you haven't. And have you been listening to Phoenix? I'm a little worried that I'm going to get sick of them since they're a little over-exposed at the moment but I found their album for $7 today and it's definitely worth it. Also, exams are done in 3 days... can't wait for summer!

Sorry to hear that, what's been bothering you? If it's any consolation I have a terrible week ahead as well - exams are here and I am entirely unprepared. Anyways, have a good night (though I'm positive you will - I can't think of many better ways to spend your time when not feeling so hot than a Bon Iver concert). Let me know how it goes!

Whoa, nice, I bet they put on an insane show! That's a couple of very solid concerts. I was all set to see Broken Social Scene, Explosions in the Sky, Apostle of Hustle and Beach House in July but it got canceled :( However I am seeing Nine Inch Nails with a few friends who are really into them, which should be interesting. And yes, I have grown somewhat fond of Animal Collective. I still haven't got my hands on MPP yet and may not all that soon... I haven't been buying CDs at all lately. With university in the fall I save every penny that I can. I see you're listening to Amadou & Mariam as well. I've heard good things, would you say they're worth checking out?

Cool, I'm probably going to pick up one of Final Fantasy games soon, since it seems that everyone who plays the series loves it. While I'm pretty new to the JRPG's, only have played The World Ends With You on DS, and a little Valkyria Chronicles on the PS3 I enjoy them both. I'm accustomed to playing a lot of the Western RPG's, like (recently) Fallout 3, TES 4: Oblivion, and Mass Effect. And I believe I can justify my play count of For Emma, I'm pretty sure the reason is that is was the only song I had from Bon Iver for a while. So naturally, loving the song it was set on repeat for a while.

Correct me if I am wrong, but your avatar is a character from the Final Fantasy series, correct? While I play an unhealthy amount of games, unfortunately I have to admit I have not touched that series. Anyways, nice selection of music you have. Keep doing what you do. Cheers.

Hahahah I like the Under Pressure bit. I'll definitely make sure to look into some This Mortal Coil - you have me intrigued. And I guess I'll give Tom Waits a second chance and we'll see how it goes. I hope I "get" it. And I'll agree on the quality of Debaser, I'd probably put it third or at least fourth overall. I didn't know you were interested in civil engineering or that you had any sort of engineering focus at all. That's awesome! Right now I'm actually in the middle of exams: French was today, bio is tomorrow and calculus Monday. So I probably won't have overly much time over the next little bit to explore This Mortal Coil/Tom Waits/my future profession but I'll give you a shout back when I'm all done and stress free!

I'm still undecided at the moment on whether or not I want to delve into medicine or not. If so then I want to be involved in neuroscience, maybe neuro-opthamology or something. I'm really unsure though, and I've also always wanted to be a field biologist so that's still an option. At least I have a good few years before I have to decide. As for Tom Waits, I've never gotten around to giving him a fair chance. I have a few songs by him and I know how acclaimed he is and I'm positive that I'd probably end up loving him if I gave him a fair chance but I just haven't yet... it's pretty bad when my laziness crosses over into my listening habits. :P I've also never even heard of This Mortal Coil; let me know how you like the album and I'll consider giving them a shot. Finally, the problem with Silver is that it's put right between my two favourite songs on the album (Gouge Away and Hey) so naturally that casts a shadow on it, but i do appreciate it on its own merits. You?

I've been okay thanks. For some reason I'm not all that crazy about my senior year at high school. There's a lot of pressure for university and I'm getting sort of sick of the whole high school environment, so lately things have been a little blah. I really can't wait for next year. But aside from growing weary of the daily grind I really don't have anything to complain about thanks. I just saw Broken Social scene and it was an unbelievable show. Isaac Brock made a surprise appearance too!!! He played The Good Times Are Killing Me and Paper Thin Walls with BSS. It was a superb show. Musically, yeah, Metric and Emily Haines are getting some decent playtime. When I first heard Metric I wasn't sold on them and they only got okay reviews so I sort of skipped them over, but I do find Emily Haines quite endearing. I'm sort of in between albums right now though... I'm waiting for a CD to come along and blow me away, which hasn't happened in a little while. What's new with you?
