yeah,I'm bored,so I decided tto update my list to 20 songs, theyre still mostly Iron Maiden songs XD

1. Sign Of The Cross
Overlooked by many fans, this song is one of the best songs in existance. The lyrics are interesting and the music is a genius mixture of slow and fast and also of classical and heavy elements. The instrumental is simply the best one ever made and the overall atmosphere is brilliant. It's bad that so many fans don't know this song, because its the best song i can imagine.

2. The Trooper
This all-time classic is my number 2,it couldn't defend its 1st place against the Blaze-era epic. The sound and the intruments are genius and the lyrics are intelligent, its impressive to get all this into a song thats just 4:11 minutes long.

3. The Longest Day
I knew from the first note on that this song has the porential to enter my list,I was just thinking on which place.I decided that its capable to reach the pwness level of Killers. This song has a wonderfull atmosphere and speed changes. The two-part chorus is one of Maiden's best and the instrumentals are simply brilliant.

4. Brighter Than a Thousand Suns Yet another AMOLAD song that's outstanding. It's incredibly awesome and catchy, the mood matches the song's topic and the instrumentalisation is brilliant. The lyrics are extremely good and the solo after the intro verses sends me a shiver down my spine. This song is really a masterpiece

5.For Whom the Bell Tolls
Metallica at thier best, this song is simply gorgeous. The bell in the intro adds atmoshere to this song and the intro is so good I usually repeat it some time before going on. The lyrics are very good aswell, describing the story very well.

6.YYZ/Witch Hunt/2112
All three songs are very awesome and are some of Rush's best,I can't choose,so I put all three up here. Each one has different strengths:While YYZ is the best instrumental I know,Witch Hunt is extremely atmopsheric and awesome and 2112 is simply an epic, like a little opera.

7. Rime of the Ancient Mariner
Being Maidens longest song, Rime of the Anceint Mariner is a wonderful epic song full of speed changes and has a wonderful atmosphere that discribes how the mariner feels on his journey. The long solo near the end belongs to my favourite Maiden solos, because its just genius.

8. Paschendale
Yet another combat song, Paschendale is slightly diffrent. Its much longer and complex and it was one of the few existing songs that actually made me feel sad and pity for the poor soldier. The solos are beatuiful and the lyrics express the soldier's fear extremely well.

9.Fortunes Of War and the rest from The X Factor
The songs from The X Factor are the best Iron Maiden songs I can think of,it looks like all this sadness made Steve Harris even more of a genius. All the songs have wonderrful vocals and good lyxrics, the instrumental sections are wonderful aswell. Every Maiden fan should atleast try the songs from the album.

10. The Pilgrim
The last song from AMOLAD in my list, but the rest is by no menas bad. This little song has an eastern tune, which I love in general, but it also has wonderful vocals and instruments,it's like one of the old rockers from Powerslave,I just simply love it.

11. The Tenth Dimension
The title track of Blaze's second album is like the rest of the album a song that tells more of the storyline, but also has a meaning on its own if you seperate it from the rest of the album. Its quite long and nice, with tempo changes and intrumentals. The live version from As live as it gets is especially good, you should give it a try.

12.Master of Puppets/Ride the Lightning
I know,it's stupid that I can't choose, but it's really hard with songs like Master of Puppets or Ride the Lightning, both songs are outstanding and have a good atmosphere on their own.

13.Ghost in the Machine
This is the first song on Blaze's Sillicon Messiah album. It is pretty heavy and a good opener, it fits the mood of the album pretty well. One of the best Blaze songs.

14. Powerslave
A quite famous song, but sadly not played pretty often. I love the eastern tune and overall sound and the intrumental is extremly nice.

15. Stare at the Sun
Another Blaze song, this one is one of the longest, its more epic that all the others. The overall sound and vocals are wonderful. The whole atmosphere of the song and the intruments make this a live anthem comparable to Maidens's Fear of the Dark.

16. Night Crawler
Another non-Maiden song in my list. This song is a real epic altrhough its just around 6 minutes long. The atmosphere the instruments and the vocals create matches the topic of the man-eating beast perfectly. I also love the spoken part in the middle.

17. The Nomad
I really like songs with an eastern tune and this one got a really awesome one. The instrumental parts and the good tune make this one of the best songs from Brave New World, although the lyrics are quite shallow.

18. The Angel And The Gambler
Surprised? I presume. Many people hate this song for it's repeating chorus and the appartly lack of originality. I simply love this song,it's happy mood never fails to cheer me up when I'm sad,the casino sounding instruments sound wonderful and Blaze sounds awesome as always. I don't have a problem with the repeating chorus,I think it strengthens the song's message of the angel trying to convice the gambler to stop gambling.

19.Brave New World
This is the song that made me fall in love with Iron Maiden. It starts soft, but becomes heavy and fast soon. The lyrics are good and the instrumental is so good, its still one of my faves.

20.The Call of Ktulu
I love this one,it'S far better than Orion,Orion may has better musical skill, but The Call of Ktulu has a perfect atmosphere and awesome sound and really shines on the S&M version.

It's nice to see a journal with the writers own commentary on a list of songs, rather than just a plain list. And mostly Maiden? Can only be a good thing and I'm with you on The Sign of the Cross. Nice journal.

I can't really understanding you saying that. Blaze sung good, but could only sing one tune, Bruce can take a whole bunch of tunes. Probobly the best Heavy Metal singer there is, and ever will be!

Oh yeah, the old issue BLaze Bayles vs. Bruce Dickinson. I admit that Bruce has an awesome voice range and most of the songs he sing sound awesome, but I personally like Blaze's voice more than Bruce's because Blaze's voice has something like a personality,it makes every song he sings sounding quite dark and brooding when he sings regular songs. When he sings happier songs like Wasted Years, his voice makes it sound epic. But everyone has a diffrent way to view the world, its the same with Maiden singers, so I stopped getting angry when people say Blaze is a bad singer, because its their opinion. Mine is that his voice sounds better than Bruce's,so people should accept that.

I can agree that the songs meant to be sung by Blaze, like Educated fool no more tears don't look in the eyes of a stranger 2A.M. is perfect sung by Blaze, and it cannot be sung much better. But when it comes to classics, the lovely Killers Phantom of the Opera I cannot say Blaze is the right person. But as you say, we all got different taste. Maiden for ever! \m/ó_Ó\m/

well,my freind, everyone has a different opinion on something like this sing, some like it,other don't like its,I could also ask why you like the songs you like,I say about TAATG that its a very good song with a wonderful casino atmosphere and I don't have a problem with the repeatition of the chorus,so I ask you,why is it bad to like The Angel and The Gambler?

Glad to see Blaze getting some credit. I think he's no match for Brucie, but that doesn't mean he should just be ruled out of contention. Awesome list, man.
