Yes, I too enjoy Jango and it is way easier to get started over there. I wanted to subscribe at Jango and eliminate the advertising, but sadly, staff have told me, they do not have a subscription feature. If you have any questions, I might have some answers,...emphasis on might, but I do try :P

Thanks CrybKeeper. Yes I'm getting the hang of it. Haven't been hanging around here since Apr of last year; been spending time over at Jango.com, but I've always like Last.fm best.

Hello Texas_Music! Welcome to the confusing world that is LastFM,...but once you get the hang of it, it is quite intuitive. Do not bother with playing your playlist(top, right) - You need to be a subscriber to make those work. Same with TAG radio. Link your friends to your profile page here and they can play your Texas_Music's Library. The portion above, that says 237 artists are in it. I have a link to the FAQ on my profile, just click me.

Sobre mim

Texas is said to be a microcosm of America, having been claimed by six flags, being located at the intersection of the South and Southwest, and having had a cosmopolitan culture centered in San Antonio, founded in 1691. In this post 60s "do your own thing" age, where everything is individualized and segregated by group, generation, interest, or whatever, together with what is now a typical American penchant for progress and unquestioned belief that new & bigger are better, and old & small are backward, . . . TEXAS_MUSIC pays tribute to musical contributions of all Texans by playing recordings of Texas musicians of any and every genre, ethnicity, day and age. A Texas musician is defined here as someone who is either born in Texas and makes their musical mark in Texas or elsewhere, or who immigrates to Texas to begin or further a musical career. Every once in awhile, Last.fm may slip in a similar artist, but isn't that the way it really is in life anyway? We all culturally cross pollinate and fertilize each other somehow, no matter how great our differences seem to be, for we all, after all, are but one people: humanity. Maybe if we made music our ambassador, and really listened to each other, someday we just might stop rattling sabers and beat them into instruments of peace instead of war, and all begin to make creaturely music together to the glory of the one Creator of all. Special thanks to the Texas State Historical Association (TSHA) for the detailed historical documentation of Texas music in The Handbook of Texas Online (TSHAonline.org/handbook/online/), and to Larry Willoughby, history prof at Austin Community College (ACC) for his excellent reference, Texas Rhythm Texas Rhyme: A Pictorial History of Texas Music. From TSHA handbook online: Partly because Texas was less strictly segregated than the Deep South, and partly because the rugged environment of the western frontier necessitated cooperation among traditionally disparate groups, people of different racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds interacted somewhat more freely in Texas than in other parts of the South, exchanging musical ideas and influences in the process. Willoughby reports: There were racism, sexism, and bigotry on the democratic frontier where the American South and West collided, but music transcended ethnic, religious, and class differences. ...There was such ethnic and geographical diversity in Texas that country music became more experimental and more exciting than the static and rigid hillbilly and mountain sounds emanating from other southern states.
