1966 band: "the Brats"
Roky Erickson - vocals, guitar, lyrics
Lou Reed - fender baritone jaguar, gretsch guitar, vocals, lyrics (or Bob Dylan)
Ken Williams - lead guitar, bass (the Electric Prunes)
Glenn Ross Campbell - (electric) steel guitar (the Misunderstood)
Michael Stuart - drums (Love)
Brian Jones - harmonica, keys, oscillator, various instrumentation
Andrew Loog Oldham - producer (the Rolling Stones) ...or Joe Meek haha

these musicians are too obscure i suppose...

i think Bob Dylan would be a better fit than Lou... if he was able to play bass & keep up... who knows. i've seen a picture of him playing a fender bass... He's such a great lyricist!! I'd love to hear that line-up play "highway 61" over & over & over...

I like Joe Meek. But I somehow suspect you'd like "bad boy"-maker Oldham there more. ;P I wouldn't call Roky, Lou or Brian obscure... underrated more likely. I'd add Dave Day (electric banjo) and/or Larry Clark (organ) from The Monks but that may or may not have something to do with the fact that I'm really into this band right now ;P

Kim Fowley would be another good choice for producer
