Hi :) 'Thought you might like to know (if you didn't already) that The Grapes of Wrath have not only reunited and started playing together again (original members) but that they're recording a new album this Spring. All of this and other stuff (merch etc.) is on their Facebook page if you're interested. (Sending you this because I noticed you had played What Was Going Through My Head.)

The live version of The Two Gates by Star One convinced me that Russell Allen is the sexiest man alive.

It may have been, that funky gibbon is a favourite meeting place. Proof: "Hello. My name is Islay. I was once the companion and friend of the great Queen Victoria. Because of the many good deeds I have done for deaf and blind children, I have been [gibbon] the power of speech. If you cast a coin into the wishing well now, I will say- thank You. ........... Thank you. Ruff! Ruff!" Please tell me that wasn't the night of Bee Gees vocal imitation...

Warm welcome to a fellow Ayreon fan from Down Under :) While I only own copies of "Universal Migrator pt 1&2" and "01011001", I certainly plan to lay my hands on other albums too.

I'm afraid I won't be going to that (Celtic Fire) as it's positioned badly on my calender in relation to other duties. I'm not into that particular group, no, but I'm into the 'type' of music, and I'm into live music, and most live music I know about is just rock or metal and not really interesting- going to that would be something else for me, and I'd value it a lot more. I wish more of my favourite or potential favourite bands would play here.

He just dropped the microphone halfway through the second song and walked away. All the while the drummer was holding up his drum sticks like a cross to ward his crazyness off. Other notable facts: The first song was called 'Uni students are going to be upset' and the singer wore a balaclava like a ninja the whole time. At the end, the guitarist went up to the microphone and said "That 'was' Fattura Della Morte. Eat shit and die motherfuckers." and threw the microphone down with a resounding crack. Then the drummer grabbed it and said "If you've never seen us before that was it. You'll never see us again" and threw it down again. A bit later I gave the drummer a beer before leaving. If you look at it from the perspective that you go to a gig for an experience, not necessarily just the quality and duration of the music, then I guess I made the right decision.

Oh yes! I caught Closure in Moscow at Utopia and they were alright but it didn't keep my attention. Far more pressing was the discovery of a throne, which me and my companions dragged as far as we could and then hid in a bush for later redemption. Totally missed The Barons of Tang, for both of their performances, instead opting for company and then the free gig at the Lansdowne. At the Lansdowne I did catch Fattura Della Morte as they publically self destructed, and split up extra dramatically on stage. There was violence and swearing. Before they even started sound testing the singer threw a microphone stand at the drummer and then left in outrage. They were going to play without him just because they had to because they thought he left, and they said a lot about this bullshit not even being worth it... then he came back. They only played 2 songs during which I could distinctly make out the singer just screaming "I hate you" over and over again and then he kicked over the drum kit.

That wasn't to say that it was the first time I'd experienced the awesomeness of music; I could hardly be as enthusiastic about it already if that were the case. It's just become so uncommon for bliss to appear amidst all the so-so stuff I've gone through in my search for musical enlightenment. Actually by this stage had already heard Ecliptica (thrice?) and Unia (once) and they hadn't done anything for me (yet! I consider this a stepping stone) and that's why it was such a pleasant surprise. I know what you mean with going back in time to experience something as fresh again- Oh to have that again for Pink Floyd or Iron Maiden. Speaking of whom, have you considered "Rime of the Ancient Mariner" for your "emphasising epicness" journal? Also "Suite Sister Mary" by Queensrÿche! Yes! Tomorrow promises to be grand. If you do feel like meeting up beforehand, nothing would please me more than to buy you a drink. Other than exorcising Jane Austen's superlatives from my vocabulary.

Winterheart's Guild is blowing my mind! It's beautiful, uplifting, majestic, harmonious, inspired, melodic, powerful... perfect! I'm only 4 songs in but every song so far has impressed me beyond any and all expectations I had. I finally understand why Sonata Arctica are considered one of the best bands in their field, and now feel truly blessed to be seeing them at Screamfest. Ahh! Did this sudden revelation happen to you at some point? I am born again in the spirit of amazing music. I'm going to drop out of college and pursue my dream of becoming time traveling dinosaur hunter because the music of Sonata Arctica has made me believe I can!
