You obviously love great lyrics like Joni's and Bruce's, so I thought I'd Friend you.

Hey there! Sorry I only saw your shout just now :0|... I do love the new GGD album... Thru & Thru I think is my fave... it sounds like a rave in a harem!

I wasn't expecting too much. I thought the songs that weren't that great before (Song Of Solomon, Lily, Top Of The City) were more fully formed but she shouldn't have remade the better songs like Moments of Pleasure and This Woman's Work. Not sure why she felt the need to do it. I think there were older songs she could have redone while she was at it.

I know-Hejira is such a beautiful, spiritual album (and so underrated)--the title track is one of my favorites. However, I have to say that Hissing of Summer Lawns edges it out as my favorite Joni album--all abstract suburban angst, artistic passion, with some of her best music and lyrics. Not sure what my all time #1 is-it tends to shift, but I'd have to go with The Dreaming. Difficult music made by a difficult woman. I'm pretty familiar with your top 20 artists, but I just checked out Camille and liked her a lot!

I heard Hejira for the first time probably 12 years ago, and everything I've heard since then, whatever genre it was, can't compare to how awesome it is. It will never get old! I did hear about the Greenpeace release and I'm looking forward to it too... it sounds quite a bit like the show she did for the BBC in 1970 with James Taylor, from the looks of the setlist. What I'm *really* interested in hearing is the box set from Rhino, with a bunch of studio outtakes (from what I hear) and (fingers crossed!) the alternate sessions for Mingus where she had different musicians play on the songs.

Not bad stuff! She's got a good New Jack Swing sound to her. I've been meaning to recommend [artist]Katell Keineg[/artist] to you for a while. I think you'll like her. She's got a Joan Baez-like sound to her and a similar guitar style to Joni's. Worth checking out a few songs: http://www.last.fm/music/Katell+Keineg/O+Seasons+O+Castles/Cut http://www.last.fm/music/Katell+Keineg/O+Seasons+O+Castles/Paris

Ah, it's going OK. Summer in the Midwest is nothing nice. Muggy. Hot. But yes, Jamie Lidell is very, very talented, and I wish more people knew about his stuff. His first CD was pretty good but I was really blown away by Jim. He stripped his music down and now I think it's more soulful and catchy and refined. I had never heard of him before someone else on here recommended him.

Hah, I just saw that Opus thing. He can't be serious. $2,100 for that? I mean the Prince iPod is awesome, but this is the absurd extravagance that seems to have plagued his career the past several years. Remember the menu from Club 3121? Ridiculous prices for champagne and little appetizer things. And who could forget the Crystal Ball fiasco. If he needs to make money, he needs to release a bunch of old stuff, officially and unedited. THAT is what is going to bring in the money.

Why thank you very much, and I'd like to add that you have a most excellent selection of artist too!

It's one of those things where there's lots of songs but only a few good ones in the bunch. He could have whittled them down to 1 CD and it would have been his best since 3121. But out of the bunch there's some great stuff like Dance 4 Me or Feel Better, Feel Good, Feel Wonderful or Dreamer. It's a step in the right direction after that snoozer of an album Planet Earth. There's some real garbage like Love Like Jazz. Seriously, thousands of songs in his vault and he puts that on there? This whole Jehovah's Witness B.S. really affected his songwriting the past 10 years or so. But he does manage to put some great songs together, on occasion.

It is! Totally different than her first album with them Watson Twins, but still pretty amazing and fun. It's so, it's so... Fleetwood Mac. I like it.

First time I've seen them and they played mostly recent stuff. I thought the current album sounded a bit flat live - a few too many rock guitar solos and plodding 4/4 beats. They really came alive when they did a half hour of older songs from Dimanche à Bamako and before near the end. The band cut loose a bit - drumming was more rhythmic and it flowed better. You could see they were into it more. Would love to see them in a smaller venue.

Ermmmm. If that statement would have said "Coldplay" I would have agreed. As it says "Radiohead" I am assuming your account was hacked and it wasn't you, but a random deluded person that has got NO onkling about how The Amazing Sounds Of Orgy rules my world, soul and life.

In My Eyes would be great to fire me up for some writing for sure. :) I haven't listened to that in years, though. As for the music sections, copyright law sucks hard, and we gotta be careful. Completely lame.

Thanks for the shout - yeah, I do still listen to some hardcore/punk stuff, just not as often, especially when I'm writing (and really, I listened to it a lot more in my younger days). I don't listen to Enya or fucking whale sounds, thank you. :p Interestingly, I see our compatibility is high. Cool shit. Don't see that too often, frankly. Your stats remind me that I should get back to listening to some Esquivel, as that is some seriously fun music. BTW, the goldfrapp/hot chip show sounds fantastic. I wish there were shows where I lived that did not include the words "string band" or "country." Anyway, long time no speak, hope you are well. :)
