From the Pizza Hut where it all started in 1994, to Rockville fifteen years later, this quartet has long been in the thick of the Los Angeles music scene. Perhaps you remember their original “California,” the theme to The O.C.? Full of crunchy guitars, hand claps and finger snaps, there’s no mystery about the appeal of Phantom Planet’s ebullient, can’t-sit-still power pop. The guys are comfortable on film, too; front man Alex Greenwald co-starred in Donnie Darko.
