Sometimes, I go searching for unsigned bands and artists, just to see how others are doing. And I got to the page of one guy named Vidar Løvik.
Listened to a couple of songs, and then I noticed 'Numb (Linkin Park cover)'. So I listened to it too.
It is just the Numb Piano Instrumental. You can find it in a lot of places 'round the web. Here's an example:

Ok, so this guy takes someone else's work and puts his name on it (if you never heard about this instrumental, and even you heard, just continue to read, let me tell you that the Linkin Park Piano Instrumentals are not done by LP! The guy's name is TheKen )
Ok, the song is not 100% as the versions on the web. This guy probably edited the song a little (still the same song, and I said EDIT, not REMIX... just compare his version with the one I gave you) or re-recorded it from his PC.
So, is this cool or not? As an unsigned artists, I say NAY! I wouldn't want some guy to cheat me off my work. Yeah, maybe my songs aren't great, but you know what? THEY ARE MINE (not entirely mine, but still MINE :D).
Don't get me wrong, I don't know about the rest of his songs, but... it's just not nice, not fair, not nothing...
Vidar, I really hope you will read this and do the right thing: delete the song and apologize.

Just so you know, I played them in the same time (the Vidar version starts ~0.80 seconds later) and they are the same thing. And it's not only me, I asked some friends to do the same thing (without telling them what my result was) and they told me the two are the same song.

and to Vidar, I know you're going to read this some time soon, I don't want to confront you with this IRL.. but this is just stupid. you take other's very hard work, and say you did it and try to gain credz, that's cruel, and what a lie.. Sony BMG? seriously, did you google the name of the lady you "had a meeting" with? it's just too stupid, I never believed a word of it. -

Noel Gallagher has made a career out of of stealing other's songs.
Oasis have already been sued twice for plagiarism and none of their fans seems to care.
They even think that uncreative and untalented cheater is a genius, for stealing other artists' work and getting away with it.
A) Oasis copy The Beatles' look and general appearances;
B) Oasis completely ripped off The Beatles' style, vocal styling and format of song-writing;
C) Oasis' first 3 album covers have a lot of similarities to the cover of Abbey Road, by The Beatles;
D) Oasis have a song called "Wonderwall", title which was obviously taken from George Harrison's Wonderwall Music;
E) Here's Imagine by John Lennon and here's Don't Look Back In Anger by Oasis.
Now compare the intro of each song...
Pretty flagrant, isn't it!? (I better stop now...)
Despite all this, they're a very successful band... and have millions of fanatics following them.
So if Noel Gallagher is allowed to do it... and Oasis are allowed to be so successful by cheating their way to the top... why shouldn't anyone else take the same shortcut to the top?
I personally hate cheaters like this and I'll never give them any credit... but a lot of people simple don't have enough moral and integrity to care about such "little details"... :-/ -

If they pay/negotiate for the rights/permission to do a cover its one thing (which i'd imagine is what Oasis did since they've profited off those albums/songs). Or for remixing (like remixing video game music) But to upload and claim stuff as yours when its obviously not is something else. But it happens. Eventually someone blows the whistle on the individual and either the person gets banned (usually what happens for sites like Deviantart) or ends up in legal troubles. -

Its like most of my music is generic to the originals but they have original tracks that they wrote they just sound like that riff in so and so and that song by so and so. It makes no difference. POP however as a tendecy to COVER, REMIX and re-remix songs Which is why i went out of pop as soon as i learnt of better music creativity. -
