It does not help that I've only had like the same 78 songs in my iTunes ever since my computer crashed and can't bother to get it off my iPod. I've sadly been relying on YouTube for a vast amount of music. I've been reading blogs about food in Brooklyn and environs and it makes me want to come up every weekend! When I make that want a reality, you will be the first to know. And my avatar rocks, just like all Okkervil album art.

There is something wrong with someone who has nearly 20,000 songs played and their most played track tops out at 44. Where is that obsessive impulse to listen to a song 30 times in a row? Where are those nights that only one song played on repeat for 6 hours will console you/ lead you deeper into the depths of darkness reflected? I,madam, have my suspicions that you may be a robot.

Mine too! The best version is the one on Live in Copenhagen. The extra lines are so good. And I see that you saw Dead Man's Bones! I saw them in DC on the 17th; it was epic. A magician tried to hypnotize me.

How neat. I have listened to 1,000 artists. I wonder who number 1,000 was... I think it may have been The Marshmallow Kisses.

you captured my trepidation about rather dodgey motives from nasty comments posted on cherished band profile pages. it's a head scratcher to me why people go out of their way to leave two word negative criticisms about said album, song, band etc.. funny maybe (?), but really people! nice plays.

Hey, thanks for the tip. I thought Wiley Wiggins was dead. Hopefully Beeswax makes its way over to these shores soonner rather than later.

Sobre mim

hello, there. I suppose you are expecting a succinct description of me here... maybe something that will be both intriguing and insightful.
hmm well here goes both nothing and everything:
I'm a bit of a pacifist and definitely an idealist, I'm a former barista whose drink of choice is the soy vanilla latte, I enjoy observing/watching people and wondering about what their lives are like, I recently graduated with a BA in English, and I currently work at the infamous Strand bookstore in Manhattan while attempting to land a job in radio or journalism.

I recently interned with NPR music for All Songs Considered. See http://www.npr.org/music/ and be sure to check out Second Stage for some of my work. I also contribute to NPR's Song of the Day feature from time to time.

I took a book and went into the forest--
I was following a trail I'd never been along before--
Now are the woods all black, but still the sky is blue--
But it all fades into morning when you open your eyes.

"Music carries you off into another state of being that's not your own, of feeling things you don't really feel, of understanding things you don't really understand, of being able to do things you aren't really able to do" (Gaddis 96).

"Because human lives are composed in precisely such a fashion. They are composed like music. Guided by his sense of beauty, an individual transforms a fortuitous occurrence into a motif, which then assumes a permanent place in the composition of the individual's life" (Kundera 52).

"He considered music a liberating force: it liberated him from loneliness, introversion, the dust of the library; it opened the door of his body and allowed his soul to step out into the world to make friends" (Kundera 92-93).

I now have two blogs that you can check out in case you want to get an idea of what goes on in my head. One is entirely dedicated to my dreams. The link is below.
