I think it's that specific combo of mandolin + whatever the hell that flutelike sound is that makes me think of Silent Hill. Although I don't think any specific song on the soundtrack actually uses a combination like that, I just feel like they do. Kinda like that one scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark which every single thing ever references, the scene where Indiana Jones manages to narrowly slide under a closing door and then reaches back to grab his hat from the other side, only in the film he's actually just grabbing his whip, and the moment is not nearly as smooth and kickass as everybody remembers it being, and thus that iconic scene that so many people get in their head when somebody mentions Indiana Jones doesn't actually exist, it's just one mass delusion of a misquote. I guess what I mean to say is that the musical style in that Nelly Furtado song epitomizes the musical style of Silent Hill to me even though in reality it actually doesn't.

Somewhat confusingly, "All Good Things (Come To An End)" by Nelly Furtado really, really, really reminds me musically of the Silent Hill soundtracks, but I can't put my finger on why! Maybe it kinda sounds like Hometown? Is that a weird association, am I hearing things? (And no it's not because of the name and the lyrics, though I suppose those do sort of reflect my current relationship with the series...)

It's in Finnish. And it sucks balls. Also I started over with a new concept half-way through so I'm waay behind on the word count. But the idea I'm working on currently gives me freer (is that even a word?) hands to throw in whatever the crazy crap I want to.

Perhaps someday I will. I have watched some vids of a playthrough of it and while it looks intriguing and unique and I don't mind the highly concentrated amounts of WTF, I have to say that the on-rails gameplay looks pretty disorienting and kind of off-putting. And for some reason the graphical style gave me slight nausea just watching it - I'm not sure what's up with that. Either way I may suck for it but it's not at the top of my list, though it is there somewhere. Right now I'm waiting for my Hitman trilogy to arrive in mail; I had the games for PC back when I lived home but now that I'm on my own and armed with a macbook and no Windows, I'm gonna give the PS2 versions a shot because I very much miss sneaking around and strangling mob leaders with a piano wire. Also I'm gonna track down some of the old school RE games at some points because I never got to play those. Bad voice acting and zombies, how can I resist a good ol' Jill Sandwich?
