Hi there, I'm happy to find a major Bruce fan !! How did you discover Bruce's music? I ask because you are only 22. I grew up with his music. I was 22 in 1973, when he got started.

It did have a different feel to it. I am just glad he had the guts to do it live. I appreciate that he did songs for the fans, not just the mainstream. I didn't care for billy joels contribution.

Yeah Bono was pretty cool, and that was a clever use of the lyrics. Man Aretha Franklin has totally lost her range! I was cringing the entire time. But overall this has been a great show.

OK, this is a great show, but it is time to bring on the boss!!!

i completely agree. I was watching the preview and it was just really strange, it sounded really smooth. It was weird.

I know what you mean, I would rather it just be bruce without billy. Not a big deal, but I think billy kinda ruins born to run. Atleast from what I heard.

Absolutely, I am really excited about it. It seems we are really in for a treat.

Yeah, she has a really great style, I look forward to hearing more music from her. The show you went to hasn't had the bootleg released yet, I will keep you posted.

How many times have you seen Bruce live?

    novembro 2009
  • 1000jakes

That sounds really cool. I must of zoned out when you said strings. Adding strings would really make the song much heavier if that makes sense. I could see it adding tension. I will get us the bootleg.

If you think that it was better live than it is on the lp, it would blow me away! I absolutely adore that song. It is so unique. To me, it stands out from just about every song Bruce did, it is really creative and emotional. I just love it. I am going to get that bootleg, I will hook you up when I find it. :-)

the gloriousness did cause a minor stroke, but I will be fine. Honestly it was awesome. Bruce did for you on the piano, just like the hammersmith show! It was crazy, and it was a born to run show! all I can say is WOW!

Same thing for me. Though I must admit the day I saw him singing, and the day I became a fan and didn't look back, I also thought, "pretty good looking guy." lol But yes, the music, the words, what I know of him, etc. are huge reasons for my attraction.

  • SmilinSkullRing

Oh, he's beautiful in the Blood Brothers doc. He's very hot whether for a 60 year old or just for a man in general. :)

    outubro 2009
  • SmilinSkullRing

Yes, he's definitely the most attractive man for me. I like early 90s Bruce even. ;) The worst was when he sometimes pulled his pants up too high and had his hair slicked back during TGOTJ tour. lol But even then I wouldn't have chased him away.

  • SmilinSkullRing

Yeah, I really love the whole documentary. It's funny and it's good to see them all together. Backstreets is absolutely stunning. I love the latest live versions where it's almost like he's teasing the old Backstreets/Sad Eyes bit he used to do...but without doing it sadly. And to be a woman and a fan of Bruce is the best. Not only do we get to love everything about him that guys do, but we get the physical Bruce as well. ;) Hottest man around I'm sure. Even at 60.

God dammit, I thought I had the most Bruce listens on this site. Mind you, I have only been obsessed with him since earlier this year so soon enough I'll take over!

Hi there, I see you posting at Jake's shoutbox sometimes and visited your page. Love the Bruce listening going on here. And excellent quote from the Blood Brothers documentary: "When the peanut-butter reaches a certain level in the jar, the Ritz cracker breaks off inside. That is a problem." - hahaha See ya around.

"I think sometimes things get to you because you're in a place in your life when you're open to it." Yes. This is so true. I never truly appreciated music before I found Bruce, it always used to be a scattered selection of songs I'd overplay until I couldn't stand them. Now I'm into thinking more about albums. Born to Run is overwhelming - perhaps too overwhelming. Glad Meeting Across the River gives me a breather even if it is not as powerful as the others. Darkness on the Edge of Town or Nebraska are easier listens as an album. Magic too, though that's really commercial pleasures. Super jealous of you seeing him loads of times but hey, you got 6 years ahead of me so fair enough. I've only seen him once, not gonna miss another tour again. Were all of yours with the E Street Band? And this Working on a Dream tour specifically or an earlier one? I've always felt, and my friends agree, that I was born in the wrong decade as well, haha.

Thanks, I think Bruce does display a level of honesty, often tragic, that is difficult to find or get across anywhere else. And that's the way he writes, as on the Storyteller's VH1 DVD after explaining Devils & Dust "How much was I thinking when I wrote this? None of it. How much was I feeling? All of it." Thunder Road helps my morale on a daily basis - it's a wonderful perspective on life and keeps open the right window of time to enjoy it and never be scared. That's what I think is why I love his music so much. When did you first discover him? Ever see him live? P.S. Blinded By the Light is my ring tone ;)

(Under content, sorry, the Springsteen bit should stick out). I read your thingy and I really liked it. Very apt summary of why he's not just a rockstar. He's fucking Moses. The thing about Thunder Road is, although it shares a similar theme to Born to Run - that being the potential in people and what life has to offer - it's about the potential within every single action or event. Making each moment last and worth living for the consequence. And as a song on it's own it's above and beyond bliss.

Ah cool, I'll read that in a bit. I have a bit of a Bruce section on here: http://listology.com/users/tenthavenuefreezeout. It's unfinished and rough but you get the idea.

You know those songs that just mean the absolute world to you? I have one. It's called Thunder Road. I could analyze its greatness all day. And I will. Soon.

I like it to, but it is a bit strange that I sound older than Bruce on his first few albums. It is really surreal. I love how Bruce kinda grew into the legend that he has become. His first few albums, sound like him trying to figure out how to make a great album. Then we got Born to Run, and the rest is history.
