I just got mine and it is a fantastic DVD. Get it ! You won't be sorry :)

I have a play list on my ipod with tracks I am going to play and when I take the bus I use the time to check out those tracks, learn the lyrics, and the music.

I have been playing since I was 12 - so that is 15 years now. But lots of that time has been spend on growing up, making mistakes, not knowing how to practice to get results. There is a connection between who you are as a person and who you are as a guitarist. If you are very serious, you should try and find a good teacher. I traveled to the US and payed 225$ per hour for lessons. Now, I am not saying you need to go to the states to become good. But I think you should find the best teacher you can and don't be afraid to switch teacher, they are your teacher not your friend (sometimes both, that is nice, but remember you are there to learn).

I can always recommend a very good book for you called "the principles of correct practice for guitar" http://www.guitarprinciples.com/ it is a very important guitarbook, because it takes a holistic approach to it and teaches you to relax. I like various music, from folk to Jazz, but in general i'm HUGE fan of the blues especial classic blues (Muddy Watters, Howling Wolf...).
P.S. If sometimes you see some pop artist here it's not mine, i sometimes forget to turn off Last.FM and my sister's crap fly in.
