Blakroc new album entitled "Blakroc ".
(Rated at 4/5)
“Wisely, Blakroc – a rough'n'ready project comprised of white blues duo the Black Keys and a roster of MCs, including the RZA, Mos Def and, from beyond the grave, Ol' Dirty Bastard – take things right back to basics. The premise is simple, but effective. The Black Keys knock out a lo-fi riff, the rappers strut about, sticking to the themes that have preoccupied both bluesmen and MCs throughout the years, notably sex, heartbreak and cash. Star turns include Ludacris and ODB leering all over Coochie, and R&B singer and former Missy Elliott protégée Nicole Wray swaggering through Done Did It, with help from Baltimore newcomer NOE, whose Jay-Z impression is so spot-on he could well be the hip-hop Alistair McGowan. The loose, spontaneous nature of the exercise means there's the odd dud, but there are far more hits than misses. The result? A dead concept is temporarily revived.”.

Ben Frost new album entitled "By The Throat".

“Australian-born, Reykjavik based Ben Frost seems to be aiming for the common ground between Bjork at her most crystalline and Metallica at their most monolithic”.”.

King Midas Sound new album entitled "Waiting For You".
(Rated at 4/5)
“Don’t be afraid producer Kevin Martin has exchanged the thundering new school dancehall he records as the Bug for a more mellow, user friendly, modern dub sound, plus a brand new alias.

Thanks meltingmoon, great about Delphic. Might be worth checking Beak> as well on spotify http://open.spotify.com/album/4og4e8zGtyvueC8Ch6dcIn describes itself as Krautrock, but there are a few post-rock moments on the album.

December journal already. Haven't finished with your November one yet. Arctic Monkeys are sounding - and looking - very good. Thanks for the link to Beak, I quite fancy that. That album cover for Local Natives is horrific, so might have a look at that. The others if I have the time, they sound intriguing but I'm not grabbed (and saying that, I bet they're gems). Thanks again for this, Niall. :)

i thought the antlers album came out months ago.. or was that just when it popped up on emusic? definitely an album of the year for me tho.. and what's the new japandroids album 'butter' all about? I'm sure they don't a new one out and have looked all the web for it.. wet hair is off post-nothing also several months old (god I'm such a pain!! heh heh...) ... will check out the others tho fer sure...

Hey critic-yep you spotted the ahem deliberate mistake. Butter is of course the name of Hudson Mohawke-which was in my last journal. I'm not sure why Japandroids & Antlers have been reviewed now-maybe it's their UK releases maybe Novmeber is a fallow month for releases. Japandroids is of course excellent & I guess I need to get hold of Antlers.

Babs both Beak> & Local Natives are on Spotify. And are well worth checking out-the latter were described as a kind of highpoint for 09 and maybe an important band for the future. Combining Indie sounds & Fleet Foxes vocals...& I quote "making this record the place to be as the year ends"

loving the beak> record. battery point is a great post rock tune but then you've got all the motorik beats and dark electronics, works really well, i think the way its been recorded - live, no overdubs etc gives it a real edge. much love for Local Natives it seems - better get listening.. Good work as ever Niall...
