Give It Up For the Blues

A couple months ago, right around Thanksgiving actually, I picked up Riding With The King. It was officially my very first blues album and from then one I have dived right into the deep end of the . I've gotten into: Robert Johnson - whom is just fantastic and despite the sub-par quality of the sound I have fallen in love with his music - Howlin Wolf - his voice is so unique and powerful its amazing to hear. Muddy Waters - his later albums such as Hard Again, has a gritty quality to it that makes it a blues essential. And there are countless others, such as Taj Mahal, Son House, Albert King, Blind Willie Johnson, and the list goes on and on. However, without these blues giants, without the blues genre actually, there would be no , no R&B, nothing.

Seriously, all the classic bands and artists from the 60s and 70s, who all influenced music since then were influenced by blues artists. Artists and bands such as Cream, Led Zeppelin, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble, The Allman Brothers Band, Black Sabbath, and many more would not have made music as good or powerfully if the blues had not existed.

And if those bands had not existed or produced the quality of music that they did, then there would have been no bands such as Soundgarden, Mother Love Bone, Pearl Jam, The White Stripes, The Black Keys, etc. And, just for emphasis and to reign in all those scenesters, if those influential bands of the past had not been as successful (financially) as they were, then bands such as *gags* My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, and everything else would not have even been thrown together by the record execs.

And, for all those said scenesters who think their music is full of "emotion" as they believe whatever the fuck is - Nothing has as much emotion and intensity as blues does. Fact.
