Nice books you've read lately! I remember I really liked "Saturday", while I've only seen the film "Never Let Me Go", but I want also read the book soon :)

Hi Masada, As you obviously love great singer/songwriters, I very strongly suggest you listen to the artists on my radio - among them Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell, Al Stewart, Phil Ochs, Harry Chapin, PF Sloan and Momus - to hear THE best hand-picked gems among yesterday's and some of today's greatest singer/songwriters, all with truly elegant and literate lyrics, which I think sets them apart from the herd.

I was delighted to see David Ackles figuring large on your recent Playlist and presume that's how you came to visit my page. So few people seem to have discovered this neglected genius, whose three albums are some of the best ever recorded, especially in their musical variety, unusual for singer/songwriters, who tend to plough the same field. Your interest in theatre probably also draws you to his more theatrical songs like American Gothic and especially Is This Ship Going Home? If you like lyrics, try Phil Ochs.

Hmm. Not much in my library could be considered indie, really... most of the Japanese artists in my library tend toward post-punk/goth, 80s soft rock/pop, or classically influenced stuff. You might try BUCK-TICK, since they've done so many styles you're bound to find something listenable... maybe? (I'm so helpless with recommendations.)

Argh, I'm horrible at suggesting music... my taste probably isn't the best stuff to start with, haha. But... what kind of stuff do you enjoy?

Sure thing! From Bulgaria, I've found that I like Emilia, Preslava, and Azis a lot. From Greece, there's Despina Vandi. Next door, in Turkey, Gökhan Özen is great.

Yeah, I love seeing what non-English music is floating around out there. I've found a lot of gems in the Balkans and Eastern Europe, as well as on the British Isles.

Fleet Foxes came by, but I didn't get tickets in time. I was distraught about it, because they're one of my very favorites. Helplessness Blues is my favorite album of the year.

They were much better live :3 We have a music festival-ish type thing here too. I saw Typhoon, The Decemberists, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes and Bright Eyes this summer ^-^

You're right :D I see you like Arcade Fire :3 You ever see them live? Probably the best concert I've ever attended. The Local Natives were the opener.
