It started off with Hip Hop, Bone Thugs N Harmony andCoolio. I was just in my early childhood stages then (5 and 6).

Then I grew up and got exposed to the scene. It was alot ofLil Jon and The Eastside Boyz, Petey Pablo(he wasnt really crunk but he was big back in those days),Trick Daddy(wasnt crunk neither but, well you know) and alot of the various artists that were big in the late 90's. and then Three 6 Mafia came along, they made a real big difference as well.

And one day I was watching television, and a commercial came on for this music and it was advertising (dont laugh)Linkin Park and P.O.D.. and I was like "wow" I need to hear more of this!

and so I started to delve into the sort of nu-metal scene. shit like Tool and Puddle Of Mudd (I SAID NO LAUGHING!)

Then one day I was watching television, and this one joint called "You're So Last Summer" came on, and I was like DAMN! who are these cats?! and it was Taking Back Sunday and that started the whole "whatever genre you would consider them in" phase for me, I discovered The Early November about that time, and a handful of other artists.

I had always hated really loud screamy music, it always made no sense to me why a band would do that, and then I was watching tv again and Underoath's video came on and it amazed me how they could mix the two so well so I was like, let me find some more shit by some similar folk. and I foundFrom First To Last and Senses Fail and I figured they were the most underground artists that you could ever have.

so I was still kinda iffy about a lot of metal and I happened to come across some Victory television and these dudes called Between The Buried And Me came on, it was this joint called Alaska. and the talent of them was amazing, I was mesmerized in how they could just do so much stuff in one song, it was just so technical. so of course, you know what happened, I started asking around and I found a very important part of my life, The Dillinger Escape Plan, boy oh boy. Those guys did something to me, I found them and by now all of the other bullshit was long gone I went to a Converge show and I was beyond converted.

"But what about that hardcore stuff Allen?"

well my friend invited me to a Champion show and…well you know.

"And all the underground Hip Hop?"

Thats a good question, but I think Talib Kweli was what made me realize that there was hope for hip hop everywhere. and it just went.

I'm very bad at telling stories, but uh…..
