Glad to hear it! The Aliens are what The Beta Band guys are calling themselves these days; I like their album Astronomy For Dogs, especially the track Glover. I've rediscovered Do Make Say Think recently they're post-rock but they sound a little different to most of it; my favourite album's You, You've A History In Rust.

Haven't heard of VAST before; giving Nude a listen and it reminds me of some many other bands, U2 and Nine Inch Nails especially. I'm sure there's another band who are REALLY similar though and I can't figure out who I'm thinking of yet. Think you may like The Cooper Temple Clause; their best album' s on here handily: http://www.last.fm/music/The+Cooper+Temple+Clause/Kick+Up+the+Fire%2C+and+Let+the+Flames+Break+Loose .

Great! Godspeed You Black Emperor are my favourite post-rock group, all their albums are amazing; if I had to pick one I'd choose Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antenna To Heaven. Their albums are best listened to in their entirity like a piece of classical music, aren't really divided into normal tracks.

I'd never heard Mogwai's Nick Drake before, so thanks for that. I'm a big fan of Nick Drake though; love Horn, my favourite off Pink Moon is Things Behind the Sun. As for more Mogwai: Cody off the Come On Die Young album reminds me most of their Nick Drake. Also I'd say Auto Rock, Dracula Mountain and Hunted By a Freak are among their best.

Glad you liked it; i'm trying to learn that on the guitar at the moment and really struggling! I thought the couple of múm i listened to were really nice, so I'll have a look for those first two albums. Feel like I ought to give you another recommendation....erm, do you know Mogwai? Travel is Dangerous is a great song, love the video too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FLTxA-1JI3M

Thanks for the recommendations! I really liked them all; particulaly Cause=Time. I'll definitely be investing in some BSS next time I've got some spare cash. They reminded me of a less abrasive, friendlier version of Sonic Youth, but when I tried to find which songs were closest none of them really sounded that similar! Anyway, my favourite SY tracks are Pink Steam and Diamond Sea (the 19 minute version is great, but the 5 minute ones almost as good).
