I see you approve of the bass in The Clearing by Snarky Puppy! A fine choice. Got any recommendations for me?

Sometimes I listen to Opeth. I have a friend who recommended them and then a student seconded it.

Yes, there is at least one cool prog band in Russia. I strongly recommend you to listen to Оргия Праведников ( http://www.last.fm/music/Оргия+Праведников ). It’s a kind of prog-rock-metal and it’s magnificent, seriously :)

Hey, you've got excellent taste! And I see that there are some unfamiliar groups that are worth listening :)

Hey, I've seen your shouts all over the place and read your reviews on prog archives. Great taste! I would try the Von Hertzen Brothers, I think you might like them, try the song Disciple of the Sun. Also, give Gazpacho a try, start with the song "The Walk" or "Massive Illusion".

Great taste man! I always wanted to listen to Zappa, but I never knew where to begin. Any suggestions available?

Heh, don't worry. I just read your latest Redemption review and I felt that I didn't enjoy it as much as everyone else took it their way. I then checked your ratings and most of them are pretty much the way I would set.

Hi! I still remember you, and for that familiar name, in some band's pages around here! I've checked your reviews in Progarchives and I'm surprised to see that a majority of them are equal to my opinions of certain albums and songs. Though I have written only one review in Progarchives (known as Kustin) so far, you've inspired me to continue doing that. Writing reviews is a hard work, but it's inspiring and pride-filling when you're looking back to what you've achieved. Keep progging! :-)

additional percussion? yeah right, you know how singers are... theremin would be cool though. have you heard pamelia stickney? i probably butchered her name there, but she is one of our better thereministas. she was married to greg kurstain of geggy tah, she's on "into the oh..." they had a jazzy group call third trio from the sun or something like that with terry or gerry gibbs, whichever is the son. fun bouncy stuff. jazz fusion for kids. lots of theremin vox. peace.

Oh, by the way, the Magma I listen to...? Still like it, kind of a dopey background musicky thang, heard it a gazillion times in elevators/Doctors offices/wherever and just don't skip it when it comes on. Also, I notice your Top 30 doesn't include The Flower Kings...kinda weird dontcha think?! ;-)

Yeah, Gentle Giant is one of the most underrated bands ever. I listened to them a bit in my teens but never "got it" and mostly stuck to the staples like ELP, Genesis, Yes, etc. After being turned on to last.fm a couple years back I "rediscovered" them and of course now have all the remasters. Giant for a Day may not have ascended to the levels of their previous albums but I still like it very much, I was living in Norway for the summer of '78 and had few albums to listen to so I got to know this one very well, it's kinda like an old friend. In a Glass House or Playing the Fool would be my GG favourites nowadays though(hell, any of them really) I'm really up on Kevin Gilbert/Toy Matinee right now, have you given either a whirl yet?? Cheers!

Definitely go for that route. Deloused is a great starting album for TMV, I think. As to Henry Cow... I usually tell people to go chronologically (Leg End, then Unrest, then IPOL, then Western Culture). So I guess you should probably go that way.

Haha, I can understand why someone wouldn't like TMV, definitely. Henry Cow took me about 5 listens of each album before I was like, "This is absolutely amazing". I think because of its nature it just takes a while.

dream theater does larks' tongues in aspic ii? what does the singer do? i'd take a nap if i was him. touring is hard. all 5 6 or 7 minutes count. maybe he can nap a little longer and they can be liquid tension experiment.

yup - some of his 80's and 90's stuff is a little hit and miss, mind you he's put out so much stuff, there's bound to be something thats not to everyone's taste. A good one from the early 80's to pick up is 'A black box' - check out 'Fogwalking', very eerie. Also try PH7 which followed 'The Future Now' that kind of edges you into his mindset for the 80's, the only other 2 to try from the 80's are 'Sitting Targets' and 'And close as this' as they are the most consist ones (IMO).
