• review: Oasis - (What's the Story) Morning Glory?

Many people hearing the song Wonderwall think this is Oasis's best song and stopp here in Oasis musical research. What a miss! Let's be honest, Wonderwall is really, really great and strong song with a feeling, but that's ONLY a drop in the ocean called (What's the Story) Morning Glory?. I can't deside which song is the best, because neither song is bad! Not even close to bad. There is evident Beatles influence, but in the spirit of 90's, with so many new sound approaches and heavier guitars.

In my opinion (with the album Definitely maybe), this is their higlight, and one of the best (alternative rock) albums of the decade! With so rockish Don't Look Back in Anger with Noel's vocals, very meditative Champagne Supernova (which is my personal favorite of the album and so many times I put this on repeat for hours), beautiful Some Might Say, energetic Morning Glory, relaxing Cast No Shadow and the rest of fantastic songs, this album takes a special place in my heart. There's a beautiful kind of energy and atmosphere on this album, and doubtless great melodies remain in you for a long time. Also, the schedule of songs is fantastic, it has a great line of moods, that leaves a full impression in the end.

Main objection might be a quality of production, but as time goes by, this objection is smaller and smaller, and it would be a very clear proof that nothing can rush the beauty of good music/song/melody, especially not production! And, at the end, SOME MIGHT SAY everyone will find some catchy song in this album, but, if you ask me which songs are good and favorite, I will say every, and that's the only thuth I know about this great and inspirative album. Put this album on your player, make yourself comfortable, open a beer and listen, & I'm sure you'll think the same as me about (What's the Story) Morning Glory?. :) Joking aside, the tastes are different, but for me, rating this album lesser than the highest - it would be a pity. Well, this is my very first review, and I'm so glad that it will be with Ágætis byrjun. EMOTIVE, DREAMY, INTIMATE & BEAUTIFUL. These four words are the most appropriate to determine this release. I love this album so much, but I don't listen to it so often, because it simply deserves - the right moment. One of the rare albums that completely encourages nice, sweet and delicate emotions, with some tears in eyes. When I listen to it, I dream about love, peace, Iceland,'s so difficult to be with some empty thoughts when Ágætis byrjun playing.

In start, you get the song Svefn-g-englar, I think one of the most intimate songs I've ever heard. These 10 minutes are too short for me. Also, equally beautiful Olsen Olsen, that remainds me of some winter moments, full of snow, empty streets and silence. Ný batterí and Flugufrelsarinn are also very intimate, which doesn't mean that others aren't! Very original sound, post-rock with some dream pop influence, also I can hear some kraut/progressive rock & old Pink Floyd atmosphere. Vocals are perfect (very important for that album atmosphere), also the orchestral moments. Complete album is simply masterpiece, the perfect musical mosaic, and one of the must-hear albums in your life.

All in all, one of the albums beyond words, where I don't understand any word, but notwithstanding it's completely enjoyment to listen Ágætis byrjun...
