Egh. A few those bands really bite, in my opinion; but hey! you've seem to have forgotten Moonsorrow :3

I haven't forgotten anyone. Moonsorrow is a decent band, but not even among my top 500. And all these bands are great :)

ULVER ..though they are no longer metal. best band from Norway

    Ago 28 2010, 14h31
  • Izzystone

Nah, Ulver was a decent band, but not among the best.

    NIGHTWISH <3 lol

There is absolutely no way that Sonata Arctica, Windir, Nightwish, and Scar Symmetry are better than Uver. In fact, Ulver is 10x better than at least half the bands on this list. They're more creative and interesting than most of the bands on the list.

  • Izzystone

Nope, not at all. Ulver was a decent band, but the other bands are way more creative and interesting. So that's not true at all. Old Ulver is decent, new is totally boring and uninteresting!

And no way that Ulver is 10x better than half of the bands. Their old music is nothing special at all. It's decent folk-black, but Windir did it much better, and they didn't change their style into boring Ambient. And all the other bands have a steady and good discography, plus they were/are better technically and make/made greater songs and melodies!

  • JimKnopf-

You have Wintersun and Opeth. That list is complete ;)

how in hell is 'personal issues' a lyrical theme for Enslaved? you clearly mixed something up

    Set 3 2010, 22h28
  • Izzystone

that would be metal-archives. And listen to the last two records by Enslaved. Some of the lyrics are pretty deep emotional.

    Set 3 2010, 22h55
  • Slaything

i call that introspection. personal issues sounds like something every other teenager has

    Set 4 2010, 10h35
  • Izzystone

Two words for the same expression. But I agree, it sounds kinda teenagerish. Don't know why metal-archives put it there.

  • Nergal131

Yeah, because adults can't have personal problems? The difference is, adults can usually cope with personal problem whereas teenagers cry death and fire about every single failure in their life, be it a schoolgrade or their boyfriend breaking up. But an adult who lost his job, house and wife because of some prick at work having too much ambition, is singing about that childish aswell?

    Set 4 2010, 14h00
  • Izzystone

    wise words, as always, Nergal!

    Set 4 2010, 14h23
  • Slaything

are you trying to be a smartass? i don't appreciate such a patronising tone. OBVIOUSLY it's not childish to HAVE problems, but it is childish when a person feels that the only way they can cope with their problem is by sharing it with the world, no matter how big. not everyone needs to be an introvert, naturally, but emotionally dependent (in this case dependent on people listening) behaviour is something every individual has to let go of, because it is parasitic and vain. of course it's no problem if a person needs to live out their pain through music, as music is psychologically remedial. but someone's personal life is their meant for themself, and that person has to deal with the problems, not put it into words and (presumably) do nothing

    Set 5 2010, 2h05
  • Nergal131

I'm not trying to be a smartass, my mistake if you read it as such but however people, be it young and old, have to deal with their problems is their own choice isn't it? I mean, if you had serious issues and problems in your life, no one else should tell how to fix those right? If artists feel the need to share their problems to the rest of the world, for the better or the worse, it's their choice.

    Set 5 2010, 14h09
  • Slaything

yes it's their freedom to do so and i wouldn't take that away from anyone. but it clearly isn't the most mature of choices

    Set 6 2010, 20h40
  • Nergal131

I wouldn't dare say which is the most mature of choices, it's simply something that person uses to get through it. Everyone solves their own problems (or attempts to atleast) in their own ways.

Decent list. Obviously every list will be disagreed upon, so there is no sense in arguing taste. Anyways, here are a few bands that would make my list that were not on this one: Katatonia, Ulver, In Flames (pre RTR), Moonsorrow, Amorphis, amongst many more.

    Set 13 2010, 8h23
  • NatassjaEternal

    Iceland is Nordic, as well.

    Set 16 2010, 20h59
  • WolfODemolition

    No Heavy Load,no Bathory,no list -_-!

    Set 16 2010, 21h39
  • Izzystone

Bathory is on that list, but for some reason they only show up on the edit page :S Wtf? :S :S

    Set 20 2010, 22h23
  • metalhead61484

you don't seem to have a lot of nordic metal bands on this. When I think of Nordic metal bands, I think of bands that are into vikings, nordic mythology and mead.

  • Izzystone

JavySlay: Just like your charts then, in my opinion. I prefer talent over noise. Nordic metal = metal bands from the Nordic area!
