The original bass player for the Attractions was Bruce Thomas, who played a Motown inspired new wave bass lines. He's one of my favourite bassists. However, he and Costello had a huge fallout to the point where he was asked not to play with the rest of the Attractions when they were inducted in to the rock and roll hall of fame. He's had several bass players since then--Davey Faragher is the latest. Maybe he was having an offnight on Monday night, but I wasn't impressed.

I <3 costello. The band was so off, that we thought the sound had issues up in the lawn area. The bass player pretty much reduced Bruce Thomas' bass lines to mindless root bashing and never locked with Pete Thomas through out the set. Plus Costello had voice issues, but his singing still was fairly strong. I've seen Costello 4 times now--twice he was brilliant, once was meh, and this time it was just sad.
