Sobre mim

Hrabren Dobrotić
Hrabren Dobrotić is a Croatia blues and rock guitarist. He was born on September 21, 1987 in Zagreb, the first son of Zlatko Dobrotić (b. 1955), a Croatian novelist and teacher, and his wife, Irena Terzić (b. 1955). Hrabren began playing guitar when he was 8 years old in a private music school called "ZaGlaRa" (short from Zagrebačka Glazbena Radionica which means Zagreb Music Workshop) where he teaches guitar today. After he gained basic music education, Hrabren continued learning guitar in music school "Vatroslav Lisinski". His teacher was Felix Spiller. In 2003, Hrabren began playing in a rock band called "Hrabren and the others". Other members were: Nataša Vasilj - Vocals, Elena Račevska - Vocals, Petra Kralj - lead guitar, Alan Vovk - bass guitar, Igor Sirotić - drums. The band never did anything, becouse some people didn't want to do their job, so they split up. Nataša and Elena gave up singing, and Alan was never much of a player anyway, so Igor, Petra and Hrabren formed another band with a new singer, Lara Pašalić. They were called King and New Pearl. Band lasted for a week; new singer refused to sing and Petra didn't want to play bass guitar (I mean, who would?). Igor and Hrabren were on their own, with their guitars. They played together at the "I. gimnazija" Rock festival and were definitely the worst players of all the bands which played there. They found their interest in music by Led Zeppelin, and other 70's rock bands. Fortunately, Igor and Hrabren met other blues and rock players at the festival, so they formed a new band called "Slobodne aktivnosti" (Free Time Activities). Exept Igor and Hrabren, other members were Vedran Brnić "Brnja" (bass guitar), Josip Barišić "Jozzy" (lead guitar) and Dimitrije Đokić "Jimi" (vocals and piano). They also managed to reform King and New Pearl with one more (rhythm) guitarist, Dražen Keserica. With two bands working properly, Hrabren began working harder and gained both skill and expirience. King and New Pearl should have played live in XI. gimnasium in Zagreb, but the show was called of due to the alcohol the contestants were consuming in school area. "Slobodne aktivnosti" played live in I. gimnasium in Zagreb as a Hendrix-Zeppelin tribute band and served as a fore-group to a more expirienced band "Sixte Ajouteé". The show wasn't a blast, but it wasn't bad, either. Hrabren was happy, although he felt as if he hasn't been on the stage at all. Finally, in June 2006., Hrabren succeded in passing the final exam in music school. He played so terrible, that he shouldn't have passed, but he finaly got a D and finished the music school. Ironicaly, King and New Pearl was reunited in september 2006 with a new rythm guitarist, also called Dražen, who also plays harmonica. Hrabren's singing skills made him invited to another rock band, but he never actualy saw the band, nor is he certain that this band actually exists.
