Song wise last year was dominated by just one song, Radiohead's Paranoid Android. It completely carved up in the chart and was in my head for the best part of 8-9 months before the Beatles arrived.
But not even Radiohead could interrupt the rise of the Strokes and we now have a new number 1 song, The Strokes excellent song Barely Legal from their debut Is This It taking the number one spot last night. Though Paranoid Android is arguably the more listened song as it is 6 minutes long, on Last.fm, its the plays that count and with other songs by The Strokes such as Hard to Explain and Take It Or Leave it closing in, it wouldn't be too surprising seeing a Strokes 1-2-3. Meanwhile the album of Is This It is nearing the 1000 plays mark.
