I recently moved to Cleveland in order to attend Case Western Reserve University. I decided that the best way to acclimate myself to my new environment was to buy some music. So, I went to the rock and roll hall of fame, which contains a massive fye, and bought some new albums.
Thick as a Brick - I already had heard some of this album on youtube, but the full experience is much more masterful, enveloping, and amazing than I had ever expected. It is grandiose, but hardly ever loses focus, and contains enough energy to keep me listening for the whole 43 minutes, a feat that not many artists can attest to.
Quadrophenia - I haven't really listened to this one yet, but I hear it's really good.
Queen II - I bought this one because I really like Ogre Battle, but it is proving to be better than I expected.
The Clash - Finally, after almost a year of having to deal with hick Wyoming not having this album, I bought this. I like it a lot. Its more punk than Combat rock or London Calling, but still holds on to some rock aspects.
Teaser and the Firecat - I bought this one on a whim because I really like Peace Train, and I like it. I might have to get into Cat Stevens.
Overall, a very productive trip. I'm happy to have received 5 great albums, and to have finally left campus for a while.
