• The Great Movie Songbook?

    Out 8 2009, 3h18

It's been a very long time since I've watched a movie and completely fallen in love with every song in it. As you are watching the movie, the songs just fit so well with the message, it's almost as if they were written with that particular movie in mind.

The emotions in the movie are magnified by these songs and you feel as though you couldn't get through it without them. Listening to them again by themselves takes you back to the movie and those emotions return.

I'm trying to think of movies that have done this really really well and only a couple come to mind:

Romeo & Juliet (the instrumental album)
    P.S. I Love You
Cruel Intentions (mainly Bittersweet Symphony by The Verve , who can listen to that song without either thinking of Richard Ashcroft shoving people in the streets or Sarah Michelle Gellar looking up from her brothers journal to see the entire school judging her? - Colorblind by Counting Crows is also a good one)

I will compile a list of more as I think of them. Could also just be a movie with one particular song that defined it (please don't say Titanic)
  • Coming Back to Western Canada!

    Fev 18 2008, 6h23

After a six month stint in Atlantic Canada - soaking up all it has to offer, seeing some great hip hop shows, and meeting some great people...I am coming home to Calgary.

I missed it more than I could have imagined: the mountains, the skyline, the Chinooks which make winter a bit more bearable, and of course, the people. The friends I left behind mean more to me than I ever thought possible and I never want to be away from them again (unless it's temporary of course)

I also miss the way my friends and I did things in Calgary, how we made a point to get together every so often to catch up and have a good night out. Feels like people don't do that much out here...I don't feel like myself here. And I never knew what "myself" was until I was taken away from it.

So, here's to many more good years spent in Calgary, many crazy nights with my best friends, and many many more great live shows to see.

I've been listening to a lot of electronia lately, well mostly getting back into it. I used to listen to it all the time and I go through weird phases where I'll listen to only hip hop for like 2 months and then switch to D&B or trance etc.

I find electronica is much more fun to discover than any other genre, I can sit for hours and just download and listen to tracks by DJs I've never heard of. Something I would never do with rock or punk. I really love going to the record store and just picking up random vinyl or Cd's and buying them without knowing much about the artist, that's how I discovered a lot of the trance and hardcore I listen to now.......I can spend hours in Megatunes or Play just sifting through the records and reading the track lists.

    How I love thee
