Step 1: Open up whatever MP3 program you use and add every song in your collection.
Step 2: Put it on random.
Step 3: Post the first (two) line(s) from the first 20 songs that play, no matter how embarassing the song. (if it's instrumental or contains not enough 20 words - skip it!)
Step 4: Post and let everyone you know guess what song and artist the lines come from.
Step 5: Cross out the songs when someone guesses correctly.
Step 6: Looking them up on Google or any other search engine is CHEATING!

Notes: I just did it on my favourite songs, which include some 2.600 titles, only 1 title per artist. Also the title shouldn't be obviously featured in the lines posted.

  • Bands that obviously suck (watch out - polemics!)

    Mai 30 2006, 14h15

    Kings of Leon
Oh my god, where do they come from? Some sort of gilette-less parallel universe where slipover wearing morons are the intellectual leaders of the society? And who the fuck ever compared their lousy lyrics, leave alone their so-called guitar playing to Led Zeppelin or Deep Purple?? Awful, really really awful.

    The Darkness
Besides having the most ugliest singer in Rock n Roll history they ... well, obviously suck. They combine the worst of Gary Glitter (ridiculous fantasy suits) and The Sweet (nail-biting vocals that seem to be female). A mutated 70s-Zombie that had better been left in the closet. (I mean the band's sound, not their frontman)

    Rammstein
Do I really have to explain why they suck? Nazi aesthetics mixed up with plain Depeche Mode-robbery and pseudo-provoking vocals that sound like they've been barked by a German "Schäferhund" - that's what makes up Rammstein. Ah and do I have to mention where they took their name from? I'm still waiting for bands called "Srebrenica", "Auschwitz" and "Bhopal" *rolleyes* Simply distasteful and respectless.

    Throbbing Gristle
Oh yeah, I know, I know, they founded the Industrial Genre and so on... But have you ever listened seriously to more than one song of 'em? Painful to my ears, insulting my taste for good music. Poor mastering, shameful vocalists, senseless soundclash. Unlike their German brothers-in-mind DAF they never emerged from producing unlistenable, painful sound djungles.

ok, I could make this Journal uncommentable, but it'll be fun watching hardcore fans of the bands being mentioned above go mad 8-)

  • some DJs and why they greatly inspired me

    Mai 23 2006, 22h23

First of all we've got Sven Väth.
he's the father, we're the children, no words neccessary.

furtheron we have Ricardo Villalobos who is unique and marvellous in combining Classics, Minimal, Funky House and Acid sound. Not to be forgotten his great talent to be fucked up to the max but stil one of the greatest and nicest entertainers. He nowadays plays more techno-ish than most of his fellow Superstar-DJs that dropped just hard Techno durieng the last years. Maximalicous!

What Sven Väth has been for Germany Laurent Garnier did for France. It's incredible how he combines countless styles in a perfect blend mix drivin the whole audience crazy like shit! Dub, Northern Soul, Funk, Hip Hop, Acid, Techno, House, even Nirvana can be heard - awesome!

Not to be forgotten is Larry Levan who was one of the first DJs according to the recent understanding of the term. His talent to make a crowd happy, and his perfectionism concerning light & sound remain legendary.

Another guy from Hassia now having moved to Berlin is André Galluzzi. He know's how to party with the people and how to take you on a journey as well. Fantastic DJ, no party with him has ever disappointed me.

    Berlin Scarf Seller: Where's Magda?
    Richie Hawtin: Who?
Berlin Scarf Seller: You know the Polish boy from Detroit.

What a pity, she's more into Vodka and girls than into hemmingway daiquiri and German men :-( Always knows how to be minimal enough to be not disturbing, but to play hard enough to make the crowd go mad!

One more must be mentioned - DJ Meat from my recent hometown Offenbach. Perfect mixture of Detroit, Chicago and recent jacking techhouse stuff. A very very nice and down-to-earth guy!
