Hello... I saw your pending membership for the Monthly Mixtape. It used to be an 'open' group, but that changed because there were too many members not actively involved. When you join, you're required to participate in every monthly mixtape. If you don't feel like it at a certain time, you could remove yourself from the group temporarily. I do this because you're paired with someone who's expecting the same kind of dedication to making the mix as he/she has. Do you know anyone in the group by the way? That serves as some kind of recommendation. Or did you find it on your own? So... just tell me a bit about yourself, or at least answer this message. Cheers! See ya, Roy aka 7up

Ugh, dude, I can't believe I'm going to have to put up with that lady going "This is a promotional copy of the forthcoming 2562 album" until November when I buy the real thing.

I'll let you know when it comes in the mail, I can't wait to hear it. Right now I'm enjoying the b-side 'Third Wave' from his Love in Outer Space single, reminds me a little of the jungle 4hero used to make so well. What do you think of the new Jega double album?

Sobre mim

Alan's mother raised him on a solid diet of Frank Zappa and The Beatles, so classic rock is the cornerstone of his aesthetic. In the late '90s, he formed an unhealthy addiction to used records and he fell into hip-hop, indie and alt-rock, and all manner of electronica (from breakcore to techno, skipping funky house). Recently, he's been feeling a lot of classical (Olivier Messiaen, Erik Satie, and Pierre Boulez), breaks (Tipper, Lawgiverz), glitch (Venetian Snares, Secret Mommy), downtempo (Broadway Project, Portishead), illbient (DJ Wally, Qaballah Steppers), instrumental hip-hop (Alias, Odd Nosdam), and psychedelia (Fever Tree, West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band).

His most heartfelt beliefs include equality of the races, sexes, and religions, healthcare, childcare, that housing and education should be a right for everyone on the planet, and that music should be nurtured as a powerful force for change. In his professional life, taking a cue from his heroes George Carlin, Bill Hicks, and Lester Bangs, his goal is to be brutally honest and reasonably fair. Since he started writing reviews for RateYourMusic in 2002, he has gone on to write for such publications as PopMatters, TinyMixTapes, The Skinny, and The Nerve Magazine. As of May 2009, he has discontinued writing under the name Filmore Mescalito Holmes. After some time away from school to earn life experience points, he is now back and working towards a BFA in contemporary music at Simon Fraser University. He's happy to live in East Vancouver with his brilliant girlfriend and three bad kitties.
